"Music! Recorders! Lets Harmonize!
Funded Feb 13, 2020my students are super excited! We already started using the recorders. So far they have learned 3 notes and are able to play Hot Cross Bun. When My student 1st saw the materials, their comments to me were "Do we get to keep them", "Is it really ours". And of course I said yes, and the Thank you just kept going.
I am truly happy for them that they got to experience what most elementary students get to do and they finally got there turn. I know they will remember this experience until Adult hood and I know your contribution made a huge impact.
Our next step is to learn "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven and the plan is to have them perform it for their parents on Graduation Day.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018sometimes it is the simple things in life that makes a huge difference in a child's life. As a music teacher and doing cafeteria duty was on of those things I dreaded. I always ask myself, what could I do to make cafeteria time less stressful and more enjoyable for the students. Yes, "INCENTIVES" things that they enjoy playing with an can earn it during their cafeteria time. It with great joy that I will say that these items makes a difference to how lunch time is spent.
As the Kindergarten through First Grade students walk into the cafeteria and they notice the items on stage, of course they all wanted it but as they know only those students that got caught doing the right thing, displaying cafeteria etiquette will be able to come on stage and get their prize. There is one particular class in the beginning of the school year that didn't follower the cafeteria rules but now they are so much better than where they started. Thank you so much for donating to this project. The next step is that we'll continue to implement these strategies for the following school year. Thank you so much again”

Funded Oct 23, 2017I would like to say thank you for supporting our music program. It's the simple things in life that makes a dynamic change in the classroom. We started using the microphones immediately in our lesson, learning about the Opera of Little Red Ridding hood by Seymour Barab. The excitement and the joy that it brought to my class is unexplainable and very incredible. Those students that typically wouldn't volunteer to do anything was up on their feet.
The next step for us is putting on a show for the end of the school year. And continue to use the microphones and the speaker in the classroom setting to motivate and boost their skills.
I am very grateful and thankful for what you do. Without your help my students wouldn't experience that joy of just hearing their voices through a microphone. What a "JOY" that was. The next superstar is coming soon at your door.”

Mrs. Norelus
One Voice! I'm Loved!
Funded Feb 28, 2017The Students are learning how to read and play different songs on the recorders. They are learning simple songs on the recorder and soon will learn a song by Beethoven, "Ode to Joy". When the student first heard that we were going to play the recorder this school year some was asking would they have to purchase it. I said to them no, but the Orange Bowl funded our recorders. They were shock and still confused that someone would purchase a recorder for them. Other students were asking will they get to keep the recorders. Of course with a smile I said, "Yes, the recorders are for you to keep". The student reply was "Wow, I really get to keep it?". The student truly felt loved! The next step is that I am preparing them to perform "Ode to Joy for their 5th grade Graduation to be performed for their parents (and foster care parents, case managements).”

Music Music, Mic Check! Fa la la la la la la la la
Funded Jan 26, 2016I am so grateful for your generous gift, I am so overwhelm with Joy as well as the kids.
I started using the xylophones with my 2nd and 3rd grade students. We didn't have enough xylophone for each students and we literally have xylophone falling apart and are unable to repair. Right now the students are learning how to play Twinkle Twinkle little Star and they love it. Because everyone has a functional instrument in front of them the behavior as improve dramatically.
The students were excited.! Before they even saw the instruments I mentioned to them that they were getting recorders and they had a flow of questions about the recorders because they were happy because they never owned an instrument of their own. Some students were dancing and still couldn't believe someone would actually care enough to purchase them instruments in which they can keep.
Our next step, is to built on what we have and hope that this experience stays with them and that they continue to grow and become better musicians with practice.
Thank you from all of us. ”

Mrs. Norelus
