The materials and supplies that I am requesting will be utilized on a daily basis to support students mastery of individualized goals and common core learning standards. Many of my students have a very difficult time attending to lessons and work tasks which often limits their progress and impacts their ability to learn and master new skills. The desk dividers that I have requested will help each of my students focus on their own work and will limit visual access to classroom distractions. The headphones that I have requested will be used during workstations and read alouds to help each student attend to the task at hand. In order to cater to each student's unique learning style (i.e. kinesthetic, auditory, visual) and to help overcome their limited attending skills, it is imperative that educational concepts and skills are presented in a variety of ways using a multitude of interactive and engaging hands-on materials and visual supports. The CVC Word Work center, Alphabet Learning Locks, Beginning Sounds Phonemic Awareness Box & Magnetic Sorting Board, and Fishing for Sight Words games will be used during English Language Arts to develop phonics, early language, and reading readiness skills. The Simple Addition Pegboards, Unlock It; Number Match, Design and Build Engineering Centers, and Geo Boards will be used during math stations to develop number sense and understanding of operations, geometry, measurement and problem solving skills. The play dough cutters, tongs and modeling sand will be used during sensory related activities to help children develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. All of the classroom materials that I have requested will offer my students the opportunity be active participants in the learning process and the novelty of the materials will provide each student with unique, memorable learning experiences.
