During guided reading my students are divided into reading groups and centers. These books on CD and CD players will create an interactive listening center where my students will be exposed to fluent reading. The students will be able to practice early emergent reading skills such as identifying words, spaces, and punctuation. Students will listen to favorite story books, point to the words while listening, and answer questions when they are done. This will in turn increase my students reading skills when reading independently or with partners. Students will learn how to read with expression, one word at a time. And most importantly they will learn, reading is fun!
