  • Fun and Engaging Math

    Funded Dec 28, 2018

My students were thrilled to see all the new math resources for them to use. They were begging me to let them get their hands on it right away! Once we opened everything and explained the activities I noticed a huge amount of engagement! They have been more focused on their math tasks so that they can have time to play one of our new math games.

Currently, we have been using the multiplication activities as a review and continued practice of the first couple of math units. I am excited to have engaging activities ready for our upcoming units as well, like geometry, area/perimeter and our next unit, fractions. I know these activities will make lessons more engaging and learning accessible to everyone. My students and I really appreciate all of these amazing math resources that will help build math content knowledge and a love of math!”

  • Leveled Books for a New to 3rd Grade Teacher

    Funded Oct 9, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students were so excited to hear that my scrawny third grade library became much bigger over night! As I introduced the new books to the class, I heard several ooohhhs and aaahhhs. There was a buzz around the room as kids saw books they recognized or peaked their interest.

They could not wait for read to self time. They were eager to explore the new books and find interesting books at their reading level. With my limited third grade library, my students have struggled to find engaging books at their correct reading level. It's important for them to be reading books that are just right for them and that they are motivated to read. Our new books have done just that! Their reading comprehension, fluency, and accuracy will all benefit from the new additions to our library.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Eley

  • Math: Fun and Hands On!

    Funded Nov 8, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students were so excited to receive new, engaging math resources. They are so excited for math centers every day! We have been adding new resources little by little and they are just as excited each time to see the new resources and use them with their friends. I've noticed reluctant learners are now more eager and engaged in their learning, they are excited to learn! I also now have the resources to reach more diverse learners. I can better reach both lower and higher students more effectively. Thanks again!”

  • Books To Foster A Love Of Reading In Kindergarten

    Funded Mar 8, 2017

Thank you so much for your donation. My students have loved all the new books we have received! It is very challenging to find engaging and appropriately leveled books for kindergarten students to enjoy. These books have great pictures and photographs and are highly engaging for my students. Kindergarten level books are so short that they often go through them all very quickly. Having a large selection of lower level books is key to keeping my students engaged in independent and partner reading, while providing a text that allows them to practice the reading strategies we are learning in class.

My students read independently and with a partner every day. They use this time to practice the reading skills we are learning as a group. Strategies include tracking, looking at the picture clues, getting our mouths ready for the beginning sounds, and asking ourselves if what we read makes sense. These books have been perfect for practicing these skills. The kids want to read them and are able to read them as well, which is often hard to achieve in kindergarten!

I've found that the students who have enjoyed these books the most are both my most avid readers and my most reluctant readers. My avid readers are excited to have new books to enjoy. My reluctant readers are intrigued by the colorful pictures and interesting content of the books. These books will be well read for years to come!”

  • Classroom Easel

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you so much for your very generous donation! This easel is something I never could have acquired for my classroom without you. When the easel arrived, they were all eager to help me assemble it! My students love the easel for a number of reasons. First, they love the additional storage space in the back. It helps them to easily access the supplies they need. They also love having an easel that is at their height. They are able to come up and write on the board or point to the things they want the rest of the class to see. When the class is sitting at the carpet, they can all easily see what is on the board. As a class, we have been really focusing on explaining our thinking during math. Kindergarteners have a hard time verbally expressing themselves, so it helps them when they can physically show their thinking to the class. We love our easel and I know it will get much use with my classes in the years to come.”

  • A Space for Me Classroom Carpet

    Funded Dec 7, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students and I absolutely love the carpet! My students were so excited when they heard it came and even more excited when they first saw it rolled out. They were excited about how large the carpet is and all the bright colors. They love the fact that they each get their own special square to sit in. We now get to say "meet me at the rainbow" instead of "meet me at the brown carpet".

My students have taken a real ownership to our new carpet. They monitor themselves so that there are no dirty shoes on the carpet after recess. They always check their shoes when they come in and decide if they need to sit to the side (with no direction from me) because they all want to keep our carpet nice and new.

The carpet has helped my students in many ways. They now have their own space, making it easier to focus and learn at the carpet. When we get into a circle to share ideas, it's much quicker and wastes less learning time to get into their spots. I see myself getting so much use out of this carpet in years to come. It will help establish personal space and quickly allow students to move to different formations for the task at hand; circle time, partner sharing, and whole group instruction. This is something I could have never acquired for my classroom and students without your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Eley
