  • The Mad Scientists GO BIG!

    Funded Apr 11, 2010

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! Students were so excited to learn about electricity when they saw our new Van De Graff Machine! The smiles and excitement in their voices were just priceless. For you to make this kind of learning a reality for students is simply amazing! We simply can not thank you enough or express how much we appreciate your generosity.

We were going to have to make flip books to understand the differences between conducting electricity though direct contact and that an electrical field that is radiated outward. Having the Van De Graff Machine made it hands on, fun and above all other things: memorable!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lantinga

  • Let's Rock This World!

    Funded Jan 3, 2010

Thank you so much for funding a rock tumbler our 6th and 7th grade science classes. After studying sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks during the second quarter finishing up with rock polishing was so much fun. Our students learned about the weathering of rocks and observed how the constant motion of waves on a beach work the same way that a rock tumbler does. Being able to have a hands on example of both beach polished rocks and tumbled rocks really brought home the concept of how weathering works.

Your donation to our classroom will continue to benefit students for years to come! Thank you so much for thinking outside yourself and thinking of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lantinga

  • The Planet Earth and Us

    Funded Oct 21, 2009

Your contribution to student learning will never be forgotten! Providing hands on learning experiences is essential to student learning and that is what you did for more than one hundred students in Battle Creek, MI. My sixth grade students do not have many life experiences under their belts and traveling to museums is often not an option. Because of your thoughtfulness and willingness to provide materials for these students, they will get to have an experience that they may remember for a lifetime.

I cannot thank you enough for reaching out to us and touching us in such a powerful way! It brings excitement for learning into the classroom and into my teaching! "I think I feel the Earth move under my feet!" Thank you for our plate tectonics and volcano models!!! You rock!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lantinga

  • What's A Habitat?

    Funded Jun 6, 2009

On behalf of 186 sixth graders, and myself, a deep felt thank you is in order! The impact that you have when donating to children is un-measurable, but wide and deep. When Donors Choose packages arrive in our classroom, I can honestly tell you that it is an exciting and emotional experience for all involved.

When our live pond plants and critters arrived, as well as our prepared cell slides, the students couldn't wait to get our tank and fill it and the timing couldn't have been better! Just in time for Open House. I had three students stay after school and help get the tank set up, so that parents could enjoy and students could show their enthusiasm for science that evening. Our Venus Fly Trap was an undeniable hit! We are currently voting on a name for our new classmate (the Venus Fly Trap).

Your impact on student learning and enthusiasm could not possibly be replicated and our study of eco systems just took on a whole new level of excitement. No amount of thanks can convey my gratitude to you and your generosity. Blessing to you!”

  • Environmental Awareness Activity

    Funded Apr 16, 2009

My heart felt gratitude cannot be expressed in words! I am so overjoyed that you took not only the time to search us out, but then to donate to our project. The students that I teach do not have opportunities outside of their school day to participate in real world hands on experiences that are so critical for owning their learning. Students must first hear, then see, and above all, do. You have provided my students with several hands on activities that will enable learning to be done at the highest levels imaginable! You have blessed them is so many ways.

We are creating power points on Marine Biomes using the real life preserved examples in our kits. Each student has a sea animal of their choice sitting on their desk in front of them as they do their research. So many of the students began to name their critters that they all now have official names. I thought you would love their choices. There is Cindi Sea Star, Kristina Krill, Anonymous Anemone, Lisa Little Gal (shrimp), Jennifer Jelly Fish, Holly the Hermit Crab, Edith and Archie Crab, The Mighty Ryan (Plankton). The kids have had such a wonderful time and are so excited by their learning thanks to your wonderful hearts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lantinga
