  • Re-ignite Inquiry

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

The students have been excited about the new materials. We take half days and brain breaks and play with some of the brain teaser toys. They motivate students to get done with their work early and go to the enrichment part of the room to use the supplies. They have started to make a YouTube channel on solving the brain teaser for students who cannot figure out the solution.

The plasma ball has been a fantastic addition to the classroom. students and adults alike are intrigued and we have several experiments. Students have started to ask more questions about the other newly acquired items in the room.

We have embraced 'asking more questions' to figure out why things are the way they are.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Vargas

  • Science and Tech Tools For Students

    Funded Aug 28, 2022

These tools have been extremely helpful in the science classroom and in our maker club.

Using the laser engraver is more functional and students are more efficient with making their designs. There are fewer errors and a much more organic math application.

The magnetic stirrer has worked in two different ways. First, it allows students to mix solutions up better and they have the feeling like they are doing chemistry instead of mixing things in a cup.

Finally, the mats for the Cricut have allowed students to make elaborate designs for both our social-emotional program and also as an independent creative outlet.”

    Mr. Vargas

  • Maker Class: Creating More

    Funded Aug 22, 2022

Being able to use the 3D printer has been a wonderful addition to our stem classroom. We are now able to use it to fix things as well as let students use it for printing out different things that they want to make. They are able to design different things for the holidays or various things that they need that they just find useful in their daily functions as a student.

The Cricut Machine has allowed students to design posters and various other media. We have been using a social-emotional program and students are able to make an emotional Charter that expresses the climate they want in their classrooms. The cricket machine has been invaluable in designing these Charters that are displayed in every classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Vargas
