  • Ancient Egypt

    Thank you so much for your generosity! The paper and printer ink I received was used to create travel brochures to Ancient Egypt. Each student had an opportunity to research the geography, religion, achievements, political structures, economics, and social structures of Ancient Egypt on the computer. They were able to print up maps, pictures, and articles to use for their presentations. After they created a brochure to entice the time traveler to visit the wonders along the Nile River, they presented their findings in the role of a salesperson speaking at a travel convention.

    The students enjoyed tapping into their creativity on this project. It was refreshing to observe the student boldly acting out his role as a salesman, or the student that relished recreating Egyptian art in her brochure.

    This was a successful project and I'm looking forward to extend this idea into other areas of ancient civilizations in my Social Studies classes.”

  • Ancient Civilizations

    Thank you for your generosity! My students were able to use the paper and ink to print up pictures and articles to use for their presentations on Ancient Egypt. Each student had an opportunity to research the geography, religion, achievements, political structures, economics, and social structures of Ancient Egypt to create a travel brochure for the time traveler to visit the wonders along the Nile River. Then the students presented their research in the form of a sales presentation at a travel convention. One student even dressed up as an Egyptian pharaoh wearing the red and white double crown that symbolized the unification of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt.

    Your donation gave my students to opportunity to tap into their creative interests. Some students enjoyed the role-playing of a salesperson making a pitch to the audience. Others enjoyed recreating Egyptian art on their brochures. Others enjoyed the class time to research on the computers.

    This activity was a great success. I plan on offering this project to my students next year and hopefully giving them a larger audience to present their sales pitch.”

They will also be writing a 2-page report, using the Common Core standards, on the contributions of Ancient Egypt. My students need ink for the printer to print texts, pictures and reports. They will be identifying geographic features, religious practices, achievements, political structures, economic features, and social structures of the Ancient Egyptian people. They will also be creating visuals for their oral presentations to the class The students will also be assessing the presentations of their classmates using a classroom-created rubric.
