Satisfying Snacks for Super Scholars!
Funded Jan 15, 2025Thank you so much for your heartfelt contribution to our project. My students were so excited when they learned that snacks are on the way. But what touched me the most was how special they felt when I told them that this was only possible because of just a few kind people in the world who felt that they are deserving of it. Thank you for helping me instill this value in my students- kindness matters!”

Funded Aug 27, 2024We are beyond grateful for your support towards this project. Your generosity had a direct and significant impact in the daily lives of our students as we strive to meet our goal as a school in supporting our students with developing and strengthening their executive functioning skills. Each day students use their color coded folders to keep their work safe. With the writing tools we received they are able to complete their writing and math tasks. These and all the other materials and resources we received made it possible for our students to participate in their daily academic activities successfully.
Our students were so excited when the boxes arrived because we were two weeks into the school year and just trying to push through without these essential resources. It was truly a blessing to see them smile, knowing that some people out there in the world were kind enough to help them get the things they need to be successful this school year. For this, we remain forever grateful to all of you!”

Building a Reading Life: A Comfy Library For Young Readers!
Funded Jul 15, 2024Everyday my students look forward to quiet reading time in our comfy and cozy library. It is also the "go to" space for partnerships who are working together to learn their sight words. My students feel very fortunate to have an additional space to read quietly other than at their desks. I cannot find the words to explain how important this is for many of the students in an ICT classroom. Many students need flexible seating and more options and comfortable spaces within the classroom to support their learning. This library has provided that for my students.
The amazing sectional book bins has also been a great asset. Students no longer have to rummage through a bin to find the book that is "just right" for them. These bins allow teachers to sort and store the books both by module/topic and in book bands so they are easily accessible for students when book shopping.
Finally, we are most grateful for our carpet cleaner machine. We were able to clean all the carpets in our classroom and also loan it to other teachers in our school as well. We are most grateful for your kindness and your support of public school education. Because of people like you, I am inspired to do this work everyday because I know you care!”

Artists in Residence!
Funded Mar 27, 2024My students were ecstatic when we opened our packages and learned that we got a set of brand new stools for our art corner. They were also super excited to use their multicultural crayons and colored pencils in our final unit of writing for the school year. As shared in the pictures you can see a sample of one of the many stories written. At the table sitting on the stools we received is another group of students creating artwork that was used to decorate a playhouse they built to play during recess. The students in one of the pictures on the carpet are joyfully decorating the walls of the playhouse. These resources brought so much joy to my students as they engaged in several arts and craft projects.
In addition, these resources are now being used by our newest group of first grade students. Each day we gather in small groups on the stools for guided reading and writing small groups. The children also use them during arts and craft activities. This cohort also enjoyed using the multicultural crayons to create their self portraits just a few weeks ago. Your generosity went beyond his project and for this I am truly grateful!”

Funded Jan 8, 2024We are so grateful for your support towards our project. My students were able to learn so much about Asian culture and the Lunar New Year through the collection of books we received from our project. Each child was also able to continue to teach their family about this special holiday because they got to take home their personal copy of "A Sweet New Year for Ren" by Michelle Sterling.
As a class we also listened to this text during our Read Aloud time. Students engaged in discussion about all the important facts they learned. They also noticed how this holiday was similar to other holidays they already learned about like Diwali and Hanukkah and how it is different.
To wrap up our Lunar New Year learning through these texts we made our own paper lanterns to decorate our classroom and ring in the New Year. These lanterns can be seen hanging in the background of the pictures we shared. A million thank you's to all of you for your support in bringing our project to life.”

Funded Oct 11, 2023"Our Class Family Tree" taught our students that families can be diverse in many ways just like the families in our class. We learned about ways in which our families are similar and ways in which they are different. But most importantly we learned that all families are special and unique in their own way.
Some skills that were taught in these lessons include retelling the important parts of the book, telling the lesson learned and making personal connections to the text, keeping track of the character's feeling, noticing character traits and thinking about how own lives would be like/ how would we feel if we were in the "character's shoe".
Of all the books in this collection one particular book brought such joy to one of our students. My Mommies Built a Tree House- This book was special because she was able to share it with the class when one of her moms came in to celebrate her birthday. Thank you for gifting us this beautiful and diverse collection of books and the gift of reading!”

Funded Jul 29, 2023Thank you for helping to empower the young writers in the CBW class. There is just something magical about a felt tip pen in the hands of a first grade writer. Their ideas begin to flow and make their way onto the paper so smoothly. This is exactly what happened when your pens made their way into the hands of my students. They were not only empowered but excited and inspired to share their small moment stories with the world. They wrote about things that happened to them. Stories about trips to Coney Island, A Day at The Park, Pool Day and so many more amazing titles.
My students were just as grateful when they opened their boxes of pencils that were used in Math workshop. We are currently learning how to solve word problems in Math and continue to use them each day when solving our Problem of the Day! Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and your continued support of Public School Education”

Funded Mar 25, 2023My students were overjoyed when their new rug arrived! Each day we are able to read and have math and writing workshops in smaller groups. This allows us to have more 1-1 time with our students. Having an extra rug space in our classroom also gives our students an extra space to retreat when they need a break or to work independently if they choose to not work at their desks.
We also use our new rug when we are having our guided -reading small group lessons. Our writing tools that were funded in this project are used each day during writing workshop. You will see some of our writers at work in our pictures.
Currently our latest class project is acquiring books that teach all about the Lunar New Year. We cannot wait to share our new learning with you. Thank you again for supporting our classroom and we look forward to your continued support of public school education.”

Ms. Camille
