Haikyu!! Manga Series for 5th graders
Funded Mar 25, 2025Thank you so much for your donation! My students will be so excited to see these books in our library and I can't wait for them to arrive to see their expressions when they see them. I also can't wait to see my former students, who visit every week, to see them!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tzitizkalakis
This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and one other donor.Library Refresh!
Funded Dec 22, 2023Thank you for your donations to our classroom library. The students are becoming avid readers and enjoyed re-organizing our library with me. They especially love the fantasy genre. I hope to impart the importance of reading to them even when they leave me.
We do something called a Reading Status Check twice a week. Instead of book logs, I keep track of what they're reading. It takes at most 10 minutes to do. I simply ask them to tell me what they have finished reading and what they're currently reading. I ask them for the chapters/pages and I log them. It holds them accountable for their reading and the class gets book recommendations from each other.
They are reading most of the books donated by you for independent reading. We greatly appreciate it. Some have re-read the books a few times already. Again, thank you for your contribution for our readers.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tzitizkalakis
For the Love of Reading!
Funded Dec 24, 2021Apologies for the late letter! We have been wrapping up state testing among other things. My students LOVE the books. As you can see in the images, some are pretty well-loved already and are in high demand. My students particularly enjoy The Babysitter's Club (graphic novel form) and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. As a matter of fact, a playground argument took place because of the series.
We book swap from the library every Mondays and Fridays and the kids always gravitate towards these newer books. They don't bother with the books we have in bins anymore until I force them to. I don't mind though. Whatever gets them reading. They read first period every morning and some get so engrossed in the books that they don't hear me when I announce the transition to second period.
Thank you again for donating to our classroom and providing mental escape for my students through literacy. The books will be used for many more years to come.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tzitizkalakis
