  • Popular Books Needed For Middle School Classroom Library!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity and choosing to support our classroom. These new texts provided students with diverse, interesting contents that can also be applied to real life situations, leading to deep discussions in the classroom. Students were so excited when I unpacked the books! I have waitlists for some of them.

In my classroom, students are always expected to have a book of choice. We independently read 1x a week for a period and have the ability to read daily. I conference with students weekly to see his/her progress and help them achieve their goals.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Giarratano

  • Flexible Seating, Privacy and Interactive Materials!

    Funded Feb 1, 2023

My students LOVE the chairs for our reading nook. These have been a great reward for students and a wonderful place to pull students for small group. The clipboards, white erase, magnetic folder pockets have also been so helpful with small group. When working in an ICT setting, it is crucial to have the tools to support students in full and small group settings. The desk privacy boards are also beneficial to help students focus- we have a lot of students with focusing problems and this helps them block out distractions from others. All in all, these materials have made an impact on our classroom!”

    Ms. Giarratano

  • Blended Learning Materials

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

Thank you so much for your contribution. This technology that you provided for me helps my remote students learn. Using a microphone has been so helpful. It ensures that I am able to speak clearly for all of my students at all times. I am not only clear, but also loud enough! I love how light and portable it is so I can take it anywhere I need to go. The apron was super helpful because as I am traveling from place to place, I can easily carry all of my things with me such as pens, post-its, highlighters and so on. Also, the mouse has made my day to day life much easier- allowing me to quickly access what I need to. Lastly, the laptop stand is amazing- I love how I can raise it so I can stand and also it keeps my laptop cool.”

  • Engaging Books Needed!

    Funded Mar 3, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations. There is no greater joy than opening up a box of books for your students and seeing their excitement. Keeping up with students' interests, reading levels, and cultures is so important. I love exposing my students to as many different concepts, topics, and cultures as possible. Because of you, I am able to do that!”

  • We Need Diverse and Current Books!

    Funded Sep 19, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity! Reading is a huge part of my classroom. Every Friday students have independent reading day where they have 45 minutes to read with a reading focus (which is designed around a reading skill, for example: visualizing), answer a reading assessment question, and conference with me. I love this time I have to get to know them as readers, but also as people. One way I get to know them is through their book choices and because of your donation I am able to do this even better. I love having books that are culturally relevant for them. Trends, demographics, and interests are always changing and we have to keep up with that if we want to keep students interested in reading. My students were so excited to see their new books and I even had to do a raffle system because so many of them wanted to read them! Thank you for helping me keep the excitement and beauty of reading alive!”

    With gratitude,

  • Classroom Supplies Needed!

    Funded Oct 25, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations! I always love the excited look on my students' faces when we receive our delivery. This foundation teaches my students the beauty of giving back to others. Because of your donation I am able to teach the way I would like to! These materials may seem small, but the impact is big. Now I can have color coded activities, the paper I need to make copies, an easel so I can pull small groups and have an area to demonstrate concepts, and chart paper so my students can work collaboratively. I was so excited for these materials we used them right away!”

  • Encouraging Excitement 4 Reading: Having Student Choice in Book Clubs!

    Funded Dec 31, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous contributions. I am always finding ways to encourage my students to read and I am so thankful I have donors such as you who help me make resources possible. Book clubs are a wonderful way to encourage student reading because they have many options of books and they can read with a small group of people. This also helps increase discussion and collaborative skills among students. These books were to allow students to see struggles and how people overcome their struggles, hopefully inspiring them.”

  • Easel & Supplies for Small Group Instruction!

    Funded Jan 25, 2017

Thank you so much for your thoughtful donation! This whiteboard easel is so helpful because I work in an ICT class, meaning there is General Ed students and Special Ed students. So sometimes I need to pull small group and teach 2 lessons at once, with the help of my co-teacher of course. This is problematic because I have nowhere to demonstrate skills for the students in the back of the room. Now, with this easel I can write for them and hang up anchor charts. This helps their concentration so much and really allows me to teach them. I can even bring the easel out into the hallway! I am so excited to continue to use my easel!

    Thank you again!”

  • "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Wonder" Class Books

    Funded Apr 4, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donation! "Wonder" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" are two of my favorite books. Having these two texts as options for instruction was an amazing way for me to differentiate my instruction. My honors class worked on "A Midsummer Night's Dream" first. This was their first encounter with Shakespeare so it allowed me to dive into the language, time period, and give them their first look at Shakespeare's work. By watching the movie side by side, it was a wonderful way for students to visualize his work and allow it to come to life. We also did a lot of acting with this book.

I used "Wonder" as book club books. This is an amazing book club book because it is engaging, realistic, and children were really able to connect with the book. I never had a child who did not read for homework, which is an amazing thing. We were able to participate in Socratic Seminars and have real, authentic discussions.

Overall these two books were an asset to have in my classroom and I look forward to working with these texts for years to come :)”

My students are in the 7th grade in Queens, New York. They are enthusiastic, sweet, and would be extremely grateful if they were able to receive new books. Although they are appreciative of what I have, I always feel so bad when they ask for a type of book or a specific book that I do not have. I have spent hundreds on my classroom library over the years and at this point, I am really tapped out. At my school, my administration and the parents are extremely open to all kinds of books and will be extremely happy if given this donation. Parents are always encouraging their children to read and often come to me with advice on what his/her child should be reading.
