Funded Sep 16, 2020I am so grateful to all of the people that showed compassion, empathy, and kindness to a small group of kindergarten students here in the Pacific Northwest. As you know, Covid-19 has and continues to delay our in-person learning. The students at Colton Elementary were also impacted by wildfires. The night of our "Virtual Open House" our town was put on an evacuation notice to "get out" due to the threat of wildfires. We ended up pushing our virtual learning school year to the beginning of October as the entire town was evacuated, including the majority of our teachers. It was a crazy time.
Due to the generous support of donors like you, and the Donorschoose platform, I was able to request items that would support these young students, that hadn't even experienced school yet, some materials to help them get started and support their social-emotional growth. This time in the lives of all of us illustrates the old saying, "It takes a village." I love my teaching community and am incredibly grateful to all of you for helping me during this important time in a child's life.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gant
