I teach the best students in the world - they are so grateful, helpful, and polite. Most are Latino, are on free or reduced lunch, and struggle with learning English. All of my students have plenty of excuses for becoming a statistic, but each year they wow me with their talents, their drive, and compassion. One might think that children of immigrants would find very little connection with the victims and survivors of the Holocaust, but my students do. Together, we are sharing stories and in this way, we are preserving memory.
