Currently, I can only afford to purchase plastic bags for my students to transport their reading books home each night. Oftentimes, the plastic bags are misplaced or torn or simply don't get returned. Having to replenish them gets expensive, and it inevitably adds to the amount of non-recyclable trash in our landfills. I want to show my students that there is a better way to utilize materials. Having durable, well-made cloth bags would allow them to protect their books, return them more easily, and learn to value them as precious things to be treasured.
