Book Trends for Yems
Funded Sep 26, 2024We did it! You did it! I can't wait to put these books in your children's hands. It's so important to keep our kids excited about reading, and I love the momentum we've already started. Thank you so much for your support—I am so grateful and excited!”

The Popular Book Club
Funded Sep 18, 2023We are so grateful for the generous contributions of family and friends. Our seventh graders are so lucky to have people in their lives that support their learning and growing. These books will be coming just in time for our Realistic Fiction writing unit and our Characterization reading unit! I hope to inspire a love of reading in all of my students, and having accessible, popular books is the gateway in. Thank you again, this means so much to me, I know the seventh graders will benefit from this project.”

New York Public Library in New York City Schools
Funded Sep 4, 2022Thank you so much for your donations. The students have used the Amazon Fire Tablets in order to find books that we do not have in our school library through New York Public Library! Given choice that the NYPL offers, our seventh grade students are visibly more excited to read. Students are flying through books and have created quite a buzz around reading.
This also has really helped students who are reading below grade level. By gaining access to all books from the New York Public Library, students are able to access leveled books that are at their reading level and still high interest. Because we know each child has different strengths and weaknesses, and even more contrasting interests, having this flexibility with the tablets has made such a big difference. In addition to reading books on the SimplyE and Overdrive apps, students are utilizing a program called Learning Ally to listen to audiobooks.
Students took complete control of this initiative, helping me set each tablet up with the necessary apps, charge and create a system in which they can be borrowed. Students have been responsible with the technology and have even taught me some new, interesting tricks!”

Middle Schoolers Want Thrillers
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you so very much for donating to our classroom! This is perfect timing, the kids just finished a characterization unit and now get to choose books they are interested in… and these were chosen by them! Engagement is half of the battle in middle school, and these stories are exactly what they are interested in. Thank you from all of us!”

Funded Feb 9, 2010I would like to thank you for the books that you have provided my class with. My students and I are sincerely appreciative of any assistance received and will certainly put it to great use. My students are excited to read "Lord of the Flies" and further their experience with the classics. In an environment were reading levels are varied it is difficult to engage students because reading is difficult for some and certainly not perceived as cool. I have changed their mind, when they have no cable or are on the train they are reading. They are beginning to love to read and this book will only help further my work They are eager to read and recognize that they are fortunate to receive support. Thanks again!”
