  • Headphones Help Us Focus

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you so very much for choosing to donate to my project. Like a lot of technology, chromebooks don’t age well, and it seems the headphone jack is one of the first things to go. These headphone jack adapters, along with the headphones, will make a huge, positive impact on my students’ ability to focus on digital work. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Caskey

  • Tech Support for Title I

    Funded Dec 23, 2020

Thank you so very much for generously donating to fund my technology project. My students now have quality headphones with microphones so they can pay better attention to lessons both virtually and in person. The noise-cancelling feature of the headphones has made a huge difference by reducing background noise for my students who are attending school from a daycare as well as for those with multiple siblings at home who are also in virtual school.

The versatility of the iPad and Apple Pencil have greatly enhanced my virtual lessons to keep students engaged. It allows me to make annotations on work when sharing my screen on zoom. I also use it as I would a whiteboard in the classroom during lessons, creating anchor charts, drawings, and sharing examples.

Since mid March, our district transitioned from fully virtual instruction to a hybrid model, with some students returning to the classroom two days a week. I can carry the iPad with me when moving about the classroom to assist in-person students while continuing with lessons, keeping virtual students engaged. I can't imagine teaching virtual and in-person students concurrently without the iPad and Apple Pencil.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Caskey

Our school district has been completely virtual so far this year. Most students have siblings who are also learning from home and/or telecommuting parents, making for noisy households filled with distractions. Students often struggle to hear lessons. When they unmute to participate in class, the background noise drowns out what they say, causing frustration and, for some, embarrassment. The headphones with microphones will help students interact with the teacher and classmates, drown out background noise, and optimize the ability to hear lessons and videos being presented, while having an iPad and pencil will allow me to meaningfully assist students, annotate their work, and provide feedback – all of which is extremely difficult to navigate with a mouse. An iPad and Pencil will also help me to better model during lessons and replicate what students would see with face to face learning and instruction.
