I teach in a Title I, fifth grade classroom with 31 students. My students come from low income households, of which many haven't been exposed to different genres of books or good reading. Most of my students come in below grade level. I am trying to push them to become grade level readers who love to read by the end of the year. My school is a Title I school which means that 70%+ of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. The students are given breakfast in the classroom each morning because they do not have breakfast at home. Most of these students have never had exposure to different genres of books.
