Research shows that children learn through play. Sharing, conflict/resolution, etc. are all strengthened through play time. Students watch and learn all day and while academics are certainly important, kindergarteners need time to play. Kitchen sets, blocks, doctor kits, etc. allow the opportunity for kids to interact and use their imaginations. Providing students with time to play will allow them to focus and be more prepared when it's time for academics. Negative behaviors will lessen as they learn to work together, allowing for more cooperative little people, who in turn, will become hopefully become cooperative and respectful citizens in our crazy world.
