Learning by Exploring
Funded Nov 10, 2019My students have greatly enjoyed our materials so far! To see them problem solve, explore and learn is so rewarding! When my students first saw the materials, they could hardly contain their excitement. They kept asking, "Are we going to get to play with those? What is that?"
We have used our science STEM materials so far in several ways. One of the main ways is that I give the kids a "challenge" that they must complete using the materials that they are given. After they complete the challenge, we discuss the science behind what worked and what didn't work when they were problem solving in small groups.
In my class, every student has the opportunity to be a scientist. Thank you for giving us extra resources to make that possible!”

A Table for Two...or Three or Four or Five
Funded Aug 21, 2019Our table has been wonderful! It has been a tool that is used daily in our classroom!
I am able to sit in the middle of it with easy access to each one of my students in a small group. We use the table daily for reading and math groups. We often read stories and practice handwriting for our letter of the week during reading groups. For math groups, we often complete activity pages and math games to sharpen number sense skills, which are so important in these early years.
In addition, our blue table is super easy to clean with a wipe or a magic eraser. This is so important as we use it so frequently throughout the day!
Thank you so much for your donation.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I cannot begin to express how much my students and I love our alphabet rug! The excitement on their faces when they entered the room and saw the new rug priceless. The students explained, "Ooh!" and "Ahh!" so many times that I lost count. They immediately wanted to know where their new spot was on the rug so that they could sit in it promptly.
We are using the rug for various learning times throughout the day. On a daily basis, we do many calendar math activities and phonemic awareness games that will provide a solid foundation in their reading and math skills.
Once again, thank you for taking an interest in my class! I love them so much, and it feels good as a teacher to know that someone else cares about them, too!”

Funded Dec 22, 2017Words cannot express my appreciation. My students' excitement with this project was priceless. When the box of resources arrived, I pulled our resources out, and they immediately started asking questions like, "When are we going to play with these, Ms. Kait?" "What is it?" "Can I see?" They were eating a snack at the time, but could not even focus on eating it because of their excitement.
We have used the materials in several different ways. We read the stories that went along with the materials and acted the stories out with the puppets that came with the stories. Then I gave them an objective with the building materials that they had to go along with the story. For example, they had to build a chair that the three bears could sit in. This gave them a chance to problem-solve and work together towards a common goal.
These resources will be enjoyed by my students for years to come. They are durable and timeless. Once again, thank you so very much for your contribution and investment in my students' future!”

Funded Dec 13, 2015I just want to share a thank you explaining how the project you supported on donorschoose.org has benefited my students. My students and I are so appreciative and have gotten so much use out of these tablets, and now since we have them I cannot imagine having a classroom without the tablets! We have been able to use these for all of our third grade students at our school in a variety of ways.
Mostly we use the tablets to utilize Moby Max, which is a great website that teaches the students skills that they personally need. For example, if one child still has trouble reading basic words and another needs to learn complex vocabulary, this site can cater to their needs by offering explicit instruction and practice for that skill. Every student may be learning something that they need about a particular subject, and this is something that the tablets make easy! We also use the tablets for our rotating groups and for research purposes.
My students find the tablets exciting because they can explore quickly without having to take a lot of time to turn it on, login, etc. They also enjoy them because they are not difficult to carry. The tablets are light and durable, so the students are able to take them to the carpet area or anywhere they would like. All of my students really enjoy utilizing the tablets in one way shape or form. It excites them when we use them, and it is always a joy to me to be able to watch them get excited about learning!
Once again, my sincerest thanks to you for taking the time and effort to donate to this project!”
