Glow Day Learning
Funded Jan 22, 2022I wanted to find a way to make reviewing for our end of the year testing fun and memorable. This is how glow day came into play. My students were able to review our math curriculum using neon colors and black lights. Our fifth grade team set up place lights, had highlighters and neon colored paper that would glow in the lights. They used glow slicks and played glow in the games to motivate them with the task card review. This is something they will always remember and it did help them on their testing. Thank you for helping me to get the supplies I needed to make this review one that they will never forget.”

Funded May 5, 2020I love to share great books with my students. This book, Mrs. Frisby will bring so much to our classroom. We will be able to connect with the book and characters. We will be able to have amazing discussion where students can share their insights, connections, questions and much more.
I love to see my students connecting with a book and not wanting to put it down. They love the adventure and stories that come with books. This book will provide that and allow student to share their thinking with each other. Books make life better and I am grateful that I am able to share this book with my students.”

Funded Jan 24, 2019I am so excited to have been given this gift of pictures books for my class. These books will be used as mentor texts that we will use to explore amazing examples of writing and help to improve our own writing. Every week we read a story and focus on one sentence that will show some concept that we focus on. We use that sentence to notice great things about the sentence, we learn about parts of speech by labeling the sentence, we learn revising by changing the sentence and we also imitate the sentence by creating our own sentence in that style of writing.
Fifth grade students love to listen to picture books just as much as younger children. I read this story to my class and we take a few minutes to talk about the book. We talk about what we liked or didn't like, what was funny or sad or silly. We talk about how the illustrations add to the story. And the students like to guess what sentence we may be focusing on this week.
My students love this time when we use these picture books for mentor sentence. Their writing in improving, they are noticing lots of things in sentences, and their discussions about books are improving. I love sharing these stories with my students.”

Funded Nov 28, 2016Thank you for your generosity! I truly appreciate your generous technology donation to my classroom. The Chromebooks that I received have been put to use in many ways. My students have already used them for research, collaborating on projects and writing and publishing essays. They are so excited to use this technology. This is a great resource to have because we do a lot of collaboration through Goggle Drive. These Chromebooks allow me to send assignments to students and allows all of us to collaborate on a variety of projects.
Again, I thank you so much for your generous donation. I believe every child has the right to a quality education and this new technology will only help foster that love of learning that each child deserves to feel and experience. Thank you so much for your support!”
