It will be so meaningful for us to have these tools to build 3D structures. We are confident that we will reach our curriculum goals with these motivating building supplies. We are sure to enjoy learning!!”

  • Writing Wrongs Right!

    Funded Oct 19, 2023

My students absolutely love these materials. They use the letter tiles daily to build their names and the names of classmates. They place all the letters on the beautiful magnetic board. They are noticing that the vowels are in red. They are really building letter recognition.

The magnetic build a letter activity is amazing. The children are able to build each letter. They are so enthusiastic about sharing and asking questions about the letter they built. It breaks down the straight and curved lines needed to form letters. A concept the children are now able to explore.

In the future the children will begin making words and begin writing their own letters. It is very exciting.”

  • Pre-K and the Big Red Dog

    Funded Oct 6, 2020

Students are really enjoying their scholastic subscription in Pre-K. Reflecting on the edition about apples, students were delighted to see their lessons extended. As part of out unit on senses we do an apple tasting graph using red, green and yellow apples. Students made immediate connections. This helped motivate them to extend vocabulary. Scholastic used words such as crunchy, round, juicy, sweet, sour tart. Hearing the vocabulary in a different context helped children to use such words in a more elaborate discussion about apples.

Children are learning how to sit and listen for information. They are learning the question answer technique. They are learning how to get information from pictures and words. They are also working on the rules for having conversations about texts.

My students are really enjoying the materials you bought for us. They are drawing details from the scholastic issues and other books they enjoyed, using the construction paper that was part of this grant. Recently they used the construction paper to make 3D vehicles and shape vehicles as part of out transportation unit.

Thank you so much for your donation.”

  • Grandma and Grandpa's Dress-Up Trunk

    Funded Apr 8, 2019

Words can not describe how happy I am that this project was funded. My children were over the moon excited when they saw two big trunks full of costumes. Your generosity will make such and impact on my students education.

Dramatic play is so important to a young child's growth. Role playing helps them to improve their ability in real life. They learn important social skills, such as empathy, and language development. It is through dramatic play that shy or withdrawn children first begin to express themselves through language. It gives them an emotional outlet. Something so simple as an hour of pretend play can help a child's cognitive learning.

Dramatic play also supports literacy. Children who are playing grocery store for example, will be exposed to text in the form of a shopping list, coupons and a checkout receipt. It also can help increase reading comprehension. My students love to act out scenes from their favorite storybook. This gives them a deeper understanding of the characters motivations.

Again, from the bottom of all of our hearts we sincerely can't thank you enough for our wonderful costumes. Thank you for helping my students achieve their educational goals.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Casey

The iPads will enable my Pre-K students to successfully complete the technology aspect of our math program. This helps reinforce the concepts the children focus on each week. This ranges from counting to geometry and patterning. This is a daily activity that children must complete independently at center time. The iPads will continue to support instruction throughout the year by enabling students to research animals, babies, transformation, transportation, water, light, and senses. The iPads will further support my students who are ELL (English Language Learners) in vocabulary building, as they will look up pictures to understand words and concepts.
