"Don't ask me how to spell it, go look in a dictionary!" I want to add dictionaries to my classroom. I believe in students owning their education, they won't always have someone to spell for them or tell them what a word means. They need to know how to use a dictionary to find meaning of words they encounter in their own reading or to spell words they want to use in their writing. I believe it is important for students to know how to use a dictionary it helps them to build their vocabulary, improve their writing, and learn basic skills they will need in the future as an adult.
