  • Let's Fidget!

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

On behalf of my Kindergarten students, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity! The sensory and fidget tools purchased with your donations have already made an impact on their learning.

Students in my class are faced with the constant academic demand of engaging with a new language. Several of my students are typically unable to sit through a 45-minute session without getting out of their seats. Since introducing the inflatable wobble cushions, they are better able to maintain focus and participate in lessons. Others demonstrate a need to have something in their hands at all times. For this reason, the pop fidget balls have proven essential. They allow students the opportunity to engage their hands while keeping their minds clear.

I have seen an improvement in student behavior, engagement, and participation since introducing the sensory and fidget tools to my classroom. Thanks to your support, my students are on the path to success!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Torodash

  • "Seeing Is Believing"

    Funded Jul 4, 2022

I cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity! I am privileged this year to teach 4th and 5th grade multilingual students. While my group sizes range from 4 to 13 students, across all groups, the feeling is consistent - the students love being able to better see what is being taught.

My students were very excited to see the standing desks in my room. One responded, "This is so cool!" Another said, "I like that we have options." My students appreciate the flexibility in where they position themselves to do their best work. I am able to bring the whiteboard to those students who are seated at traditional desks and chairs, or to the rear of the classroom where students use standing desks.

Thank you again for making this project a reality! Already, my students are more successful thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Torodash

My students were very excited to see the standing desks in my room. One responded, "This is so cool!" Another said, "I like that we have options." My students appreciate the flexibility in where they position themselves to do their best work. It allows them to take ownership over their learning style and preferences. They are able to begin the lesson at a standing desk and later transition to a more traditional desk and chair, if they so choose.

  • Crazy for Chromebooks

    Funded Nov 22, 2015

It is with deep gratitude and much appreciation that I write to you this letter of thanks. Your contribution to my project, "Crazy for Chromebooks," has allowed the students I teach to become more active participants in their own learning.

Many of the students I teach do not have computers at home; some do not have the internet. Through the use of the Chromebook, they are not only introduced to new technology, they are able to take charge of their own learning. In addition to interacting with the Wonders literacy curriculum, they wholeheartedly enjoy partaking in phonics-based games and activities as well.

In particular, I am beginning to see a change in the students with special needs that I teach. Through repetition of a given sound, as well as interactive activities, they are developing recognition of letters and sounds that they did not have before. This knowledge will have a direct and positive impact upon their developing ability to read and write.

I look forward to finding new ways of incorporating this technology into my daily lessons, just as I'm sure that the students I teach will look forward to learning through play.

    With many thanks,

    Meredith”

    With gratitude,

I teach in a public elementary school in which nearly 1/2 of the student population is receiving either special education or English language support services. More than 75% of students in this school receive free or reduced-price lunch. In spite of these factors, I teach students who genuinely want to learn. They demonstrate excellent attendance and a willingness to participate in activities and have new experiences.
