They were so excited when they arrived! I have loved observing them during reading workshop this week as their eyes never leave their books! I even saw a few scholars sniffing the wonderful smell of a brand new book! You have made a significant impact on our classroom in just the week since the books have been delivered. I know that the scholars will continue to enjoy these books for years to come! Thanks again for donating to our classroom and making a difference in the lives of my scholars!”

Funded Feb 23, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation! North Carolina public schools are very poorly funded and we often don't have the necessary materials to teach our students. Each week the students have mandatory computer time to work on various reading and math skills. This week we finally had headphones so the students could properly hear the lesson so they could complete the given activity. Due to the lack of headphones, I frequently have students getting distracted because of the constant noise. This week the kids loved it!! They said they got so much more done because they couldn't hear their neighbor's computer. Thank you again for your generous donation! You have made a huge impact in the third grade at our school.”

Must Have: Printer
Funded Sep 23, 2016Dear Donor,
Thanks so much for funding this project!! My students couldn't believe that someone I didn't even know would donate so much money to our classroom! I always love having this conversation with my students because we get to talk about the good in the world and how complete stranger find it in their heart to help out schools in need.
The printer will allow me to print games in color that the students use to practice both math and reading skills. I know it might not seem like a dire need but these are the things that can help students stay engaged and help them to see images more clearly. We are also currently wrapping up our fairy tales writing unit and my students are currently designing their fairy tale's cover on the computer so it can be printed in color. I can't wait to share the images with you!
Thank you again for donating to our classroom! I hope that you find the same heart-felt kindness throughout the week!”

Avid Readers Need Guided Reading Materials
Funded Oct 28, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donations! This has helped me to be so much more organized for my guided reading lessons. A few weeks ago, there were just books piled up behind my reading table, which were constantly getting knocked over by kids or me. I would be digging through piles to find the books I needed. I am extremely organized so it wasn't very reflective of the type of person I am. Now that everything is all organized and put together, reading groups run more smoothly and our reading area is no longer an accident waiting to happen! The magnets have also been great for my lower reading groups that need to work on a specific skill set. This week alone, I had 6 different kids move a total of 10 reading levels! Two of those students are now only a few levels behind grade level and another students is officially on grade level. By donating to this project, you are truly impacting the children in my classroom and helping close the achievement gap in my classroom. The impact of this project is already helped so much and we have only had these materials for a couple weeks. Just imagine how many students will be impacted in the years to come! Thank you again for your donations!”

Must Have Books
Funded Oct 3, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for donating to our classroom!!! My students love to read and adding these books that fit their interests was such a blessing! At the beginning of each school year, I have my students fill out reading interest surveys that tell me more about what they like to read and I found that I didn't have very many humorous or scary books in my classroom. Thus, creating this project. I then picked out a book for each child based on their interests and wrote them a little note about why I selected it for him or her. You can see some of the notes and books that I left on the students' desks in the pictures below.
The kids now have been recommending the books you donated to other students in the class. Many of the books have already been read by a handful of kids in the classroom! Thank you again for your generous donation and making a difference in the lives of my students!”

Comfy Spaces for Wild Readers
Funded Aug 9, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation! These materials have made a great difference in our classroom! The balance balls have allowed students to exercise and have movement throughout the day. We rotate from day to day who gets to use them so that everyone has a chance. The pillows and seat cushions have provided comfy spaces for my students to read and sit comfortably when the students are playing partner games. Between the balance balls, seat cushions, and pillows there is something for everyone to enjoy! Thanks again for your support and making a positive difference in our classroom! My kids told me to send hugs :) and to say that you're awesome!”

Must Have Book Bins
Funded Aug 19, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation!! Transitioning to a new school and needing new supplies can always be a struggle. Especially when you are accustomed to using certain materials in your previous classroom. These book bins have provided my students with a space to keep their literacy materials organized. During the literacy block they are able to keep all their materials as they transition from guided reading to literacy centers. Many of the students have expressed that they enjoy having their own personal space for all of their books. Thank you again for your generous donation. It has made a huge difference in our classroom!”

Wanted: Homey Classroom
Funded Dec 1, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donations! The rug in our classroom has been such a blessing and has made our room very homey! It has provided alternative seating options in our classroom. The kids love to play math games and take notes on the comfy carpet. Children spend so much time at school so it is important for me to create a fun and safe environment in order for learning to occur. You have made that possible! Thank you again for your heartfelt generosity, it has truly made an impact in the lives of my students!”

Funded Oct 19, 2015Thank you so much for the book donations! Last week I met with parents for conferences and I heard parent after parent thank me for finding book recommendations for their child. Also, that their child can't stop reading and have helped change the way their child sees reading. The fifth grade team at my school has created a book loving community of children who just can't stop reading and your donations have helped make that happen. When the books arrived in the mail, I couldn't stamp the books fast enough and students were lined up at my desk to find their next read. I don't think any of the books have even sat in a book basket yet because they are constantly being passed around from student to student. Your donations are continuing to support our efforts to instill reading habits and guide students into developing into life long readers! Thank you again for your support!”
