Ahhh! Refreshing!
Funded Jun 24, 2020I want to sincerely thank you all for making this projecting come to life in our classroom. Since then we have utilized the water cooler daily. Scholars love using their personalized water bottles in the classroom. It has minimized foot traffic in the hallway which has been a plus considering the times we are in.
Scholars were blown away when I first revealed the news to them. They couldn't believe how generous people could be! For halloween my scholars had wanted to make hot chocolate and our classroom water cooler came in handy. We are so grateful and want to thank each and every one of you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Kleenex® Brand and 10 other donors.A Clean Classroom Is a Happy Classroom
Funded Dec 1, 2018Thank you again for your kind donation! As a result of your wonderful contribution our classroom is cleaner than ever! Students have been using our new magic erasers to help keep our tables nice and clean. They love to volunteer to also clean our dry erase boards after every lesson. The magic erasers are excellent at cleaning dry ease boards. During guided reading I have cut them into smaller pieces and students use them during the lesson after spelling sight words and writing sentences.
My students were so excited to find out we were fully funded. We had a count down for each time someone donated. Some students thought the day would never come. When we were funded, the next morning I told them I had a huge surprise for them. I showed them the page stating the amazing news and they couldn't believe it! The day the boxed arrived we opened it together. On student said "I feel it's my birthday or something". They were full of joy and excitement.
My students are currently writing about natural disasters. During this unit they spent time gathering facts about either volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes, or hurricanes. They read enriched texts that were filled with details photographs. They were also able have student led discussions about their writing piece. At the end they were able to either create a brochure of their natural disaster or create a flip book. This week they will be turning their writing piece into art. The cleaning supplies will come in handy for sure!!!”

Flexible Seating is the Best Seat in the House!
Funded Dec 16, 2018WOW!! Thank you so very much for you generous support. Flexible seating has been huge dream of mine. After reading about the benefits of flexible seating I really wanted to give the a try. Flexible seating has been a huge impact on how my students respond to their classroom. They lacked focus at times and struggled to return to their seats during transitions. After introducing flexible seating everything changed! Students were eager to return to their seats. During our whole group discussion students constantly asked if they could have a wobble chair or a bouncy ball chair. I have used flexible seating to help de-escalate situations. The chairs have a very comforting and soothing component with my students.
My students love wobbling in the chairs, the students that do not get to sit in them have the cushion seats. They absolutely adore them. I've noticed that they wobble into them and it allows them to stay focused on an independent task. The cushions have also been a wonderful way to de-escalate situations within the classroom.
Right now we are finishing up a unit that focuses on natural disasters. Students use non-fiction (informational) text to help collect facts and information about a natural disaster. They are collaborating in a lot of group work and have been creating brochures or a flip book to display the information created.
Thank you again for your kindness and love, flexible seating has truly made a difference in the classroom!”
