Our school is a typical public elementary school. My class is one of 15 special education classrooms for preschool children. My class is part of the district's Deaf/Hard of Hearing Program with 15 students. It has a combination of deaf/hard of hearing and hearing 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Many of my students are also English Language Learners and developing language via visual means is very critical in their early stages of language acquisition. There is no way a person can walk into my classroom and not cry of laughter. The students bring a source of energy, joy, laughter and eagerness to learn which is very contagious. The school environment is one which not only supports the program and our students, but assures inclusiveness for all.
