Fostering the Love of Reading Though Chapter Books!
Funded Mar 16, 2025Our class greatly appreciates the generosity of your donation. My class will be so excited to dive into these new chapter books and apply their daily reading skills. I also can't wait to have them create meaningful literature conversations with their classmates as they read. We (and my future students) thank you!”

Funded Aug 18, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project. My students greatly benefited from the various math materials we were able to use. For example, we were able to use the magnetic number bonds to learn the foundations of fact families. Then we used the playing cards and spinners to practice our math fluency in addition and subtraction. Finally, the students were the most engaged when they were able to use the portable white boards to do group work! They are excited each week when we practice our word problems on the whiteboard and they get to show off their learning.
We will continue to use our foam dice and magnetic clocks to work on telling time and learning how to graph probabilities. My class and I are very grateful and I can't wait to continue to use these materials every year with each class that I teach.”

Funded Sep 11, 2023My students greatly appreciate your generosity to help fund our project. They were so excited to see what items I had ordered for our classroom which would help them to thrive. A few of them described that it felt like an early Christmas present. A lot of them were amazed at how many items we received.
One of the first resources we were able to utilized was the umbrellas. Rain can hit Hawaii at any given moment, and we sure were lucky to have the umbrellas while on our campus evacuation drill. I had brought the umbrellas because it started to drizzle, and during our walk, the drizzle turned into hard rain.
I also felt a lot more organized after I put together the file cabinet frames. A well oiled classroom runs smoothly when the teacher is able to be organized! Students were excited to use their creative juices to paint with their water color palettes. A lot of them have never painted before, so this was a great first hand experience, and they were able to find it quite relaxing. We were able to incorporate our money system for students to earn money and put it in their clear pouches. Lastly, they were able to fulfill their school supply list with getting pencil pouches for their binders. They could keep their pencils and highlighters in there so that they are always able to complete their homework at home.
The next steps for our class is to use our tarp when we have outdoor assemblies at the end of the school year. It's always nice to sit on a clean tarp than sitting on wet grass.
Thank you again for having such a big heart to help classrooms around the world thrive.”

Funded Dec 9, 2015I can't begin to explain how much my students have loved doing the experiments with the donated supplies each of you have been able to give to us. Their faces light up so much when they see that Science is the next subject on the agenda for the day. We have been able to do 8 science experiments in class! One specific experiment was the last one that we were able to complete which related to the topic of energy. The students used the foam tubes to create a roller coaster in which their goal was to use energy from the hills to get marbles into a cup at the end. There were always little experiments that led up the cultivating experiment at the end to solidify the whole concept. This one in particular was very rewarding because they were able to come up with the reasoning all on their own! They were able to understand that height is important when needing energy to go down a hill because it loses energy once the marble starts going back up the hill.
The students were very excited to be able to work with different materials for their experiments. I heard them saying comments such as, "I have these things at home, I can try to make one at home later", or "Mrs. Gersaba, can I please take home the finished product to show my parents what we made?" The students also never experienced most of these materials being used in these types of ways to experiment with, so it was nice for them see the different uses these materials could provide.
As the school year comes to an end, I'm hoping to get to another science experiment using the materials I didn't get to use yet teaching the concept of Weather and the relationship to the Water Cycle.”
