Multi-sensory learning is an everyday occurrence in my classroom. Students with reading difficulties benefit from the Orton-Gillingham approach; see it, say it, hear it and touch it. The use of a color printer in my classroom helps me not only with the visuals the students need to see but also with creating games, activity posters, and anchor charts. Students engage better with color materials because they draw their attention and pique their interests. Scientifically speaking, The Association for Talent Development reported that information is sent from the color center of the brain to areas responsible for detecting motion, shapes, edges, and transitions - even if you're color blind. This especially helps with interpretation of charts and graphs. It is quite expensive to print out games, pictures, anchor charts and specialized color coded writing sheets for my 16 students. As of today, not even two weeks into school, I have already went through four ink cartridges (2 black and 2 color.) The cost of ink is already over $200 from my personal account. I want to provide the best quality of learning and optimal opportunities for learning for my awesome students, but cannot afford it at this rate. Please help me to make their materials POP in their eyes and minds!
