Dear Donor,

Have you ever seen a child's face on Christmas morning and know that excitement just can't be contained? Setting the boxes of materials in front of the students was like watching that child's face. They couldn't contain themselves, it was pure joy. I, of course, dramatized the event by asking questions about what could be in the boxes and who would send us such a gift.

Each cut of tape brought exclamations of happiness. When I opened the first box containing the safety glasses, faces were very perplexed. They didn't know what to think. I then opened the second box and more ohs were exclaimed as I pulled out the graduated cylinders. The last box contained our lab aprons. As I pulled open this box and brought out the lab aprons, a shout came from one of my boys. "I bet this has to do with our science labs!"

We are in the process of beginning our unit on chemical and physical changes and the exact reason I wanted these materials. These kids are so excited to use our glasses, cylinders and most of all the lab coats. It is something about that lab coat that makes them feel like a real scientist. Photo's to come.”
