New Tank for Lizzie our Bearded Dragon

Funded Feb 21, 2016

I am a science teacher in a title 1 school. We are 85% Hispanic with many ELL learners. Having live pets in the classroom allows students to learn science through observation and also responsibility. Students help care for our lizard and learn how to treat animals in a humane manner. This is a skill they can use throughout their lives.

Through observing our class lizard students get to see the food chain in action instead of just reading about it. Its amazing to watch crickets being quickly gobbled up. Animals bridge the language gap and allow teachers to reach all students and a diverse school.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Saltiel
