Donorschoose provided my special education classroom
with materials that helped make our project around the world more concrete and real to these students. By providing us with materials to help us learn about the world the students told me I "tricked" them into learning. I know these materials will continue to help with this project which I do each school year. We can't thank our donors or this site enough for all they were able to do for us. These kids will never forget the fun adventure of "traveling the world" and learning at the same time.. Thank you again!!!”

The students in my classroom are pretty amazing kids. These students have the same goals and aspirations as their regular education peers, as well as the peers in neighboring suburbia. These kids have a lot more on their plate though, which in my mind makes them stronger. They should be given access to the same educational opportunities as students in wealthier districts. Unfortunately that is not the case, and due to budget cuts, many of our teachers myself included spend their own money to get supplies for their classrooms and students. Due to my students and their disabilities, they need a more hands on multi-sensory approach as well as continuous exposure to the world around them.
