  • Kids Clock In

    Funded Nov 19, 2019

Words cannot properly express my appreciation for you all's generosity. I couldn't wait to tell my kids that their clock was fully funded and soon they'd be able to clockin like adults. Just when I thought the project wouldn't be funded yall came through in a huge way. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carter

  • Entrepreneurial Takeover

    Funded Nov 26, 2018

The moment my students saw the Amazon boxes come in, their excitement began to grow. It grew and grew as I opened and revealed the contents of each and every box. Students helped organize and put up supplies while we gathered others in preparation for the production phase of our project.

We started production by using the tie dye kits kits to make some groovy looking t-shirts. For some of my students this was their first time ever dying fabric. They thoroughly enjoyed creating the various designs and working with a medium they weren't accustomed to. One of the items we used towards the end was the bracelet display. Students were wowed by their ability to showcase their wares in such a professional manner. And their "customers" enjoyed the high level of professionalism as well.

Thank you so much for kicking off this project for us. The students have created and sold, they will now start looking at the money made and doing the math required to see if there was any profit. They will also be writing newspaper articles to describe their experiences. They had a blast and I can't wait for next year's project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carter

  • That New Crayon Smell

    Funded Nov 14, 2015

I informed my students that we were funded and they cheered. You have no idea how happy I am to have this project funded, I honestly thought that we may not reach our goal in time, but you all came through.

The supplies will get here just right in time for a slew of new projects in January. My students get so excited when they have new crayons and fresh glue sticks to use. It warms my heart that there are people out there who care about the state of our classrooms and are to help students in need.

Thanks your donations, my student's creativity will reach new heights!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carter

  • Girls In Tutus

    Funded Jan 30, 2014

I would like to sincerely thank every last one of you for contributing to this project. My girls were ecstatic to find out that their tutus were completely funded, they were even more ecstatic to find out that they would have the opportunity to wear their own handiwork.

The girls handmade tutus that they wore as "uniforms" for our girl empowerment group. The group focused on teaching our young ladies how to be young ladies. We discussed manners, etiquette, bullying, self-esteem and a host of other topics related to growing up as a young lady. They also participated in team building exercises to try and combat the negative images they were seeing on television.

The tutus provided the confidence boost my girls needed to feel comfortable in their own skin. Many of my students would not have been able to purchase tutus on their own, so your generous donations helped everyone have the same opportunities. Again, on behalf of myself and my girls, You Guys Rock!!!”

  • iDesign: Fashion Forward Entrepreneurs

    Funded Dec 26, 2012

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My students were so shocked and delighted that they had the resources to create their own fashion line. For many of our projects we have been just dealing with drawings and hypotheticals, but in this case the students had hands on experience in taking their ideas from vision to reality. They were in awe that they had access to real fabric and "grown-up" scissors, they were tired of the little elementary scissors they had been using all year.

The students started by choosing their "business partners" and then coming up with a name for their fashion line and a logo. They then began the fashion design process. I provided several options to jump start the creative process. Once their designs were approved they began creating the actual garments. In some cases I provided a pattern and in others they had to measure and cut their fabric themselves. They had a blast creating from the ground up.

This project allowed my students to gain real world experience and truly learn what it's like to work with a team. I wanted my students to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to work with others. Again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for providing the means for my students to flourish.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carter

My students identify with pop culture and I try to give projects that will allow them to make something they see everyday, make connections between visual arts and their reality, and learn about entrepreneurship. My students attend an elementary school in Georgia where they have a very high risk of not finishing high school. As the art teacher, I try to find ways of connecting what they consider fun and "cool" with knowledge they need to continue their journey.
