  • STEM-Ming Up a Lifelong Love of Learning

    Funded Jul 10, 2019

Our school has a new room called the Makerspace room. We got to use our new supplies several times already this year In this great space. We read about the man who walked between two towers and then built our own towers.

Last week after studying force, we used the planks to build mazes for marbles to go through. They love using these materials during their free time as well. They love being creative!

We will continue using these amazing stem materials to engineer some cool projects. We definitely couldn't do it without your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Clepper

  • Framing Up Confidence

    Funded Mar 13, 2019

Over the summer, I had time to really prepare and think about how I would use these materials. I was also able to travel to Atlanta, Georgia to the Ron Clark Academy. Their school is covered in pictures of the students and it made such an impression on me. I knew that my students were going to love seeing themselves on the wall of their very own classroom.

At the beginning of the year, on meet your teacher night, each frame was filled with Future First Grader - Coming Soon. My daughter came on the first day and took everyone's picture. We asked them what they wanted to be when they grew up and added them to the photos before we had them printed out.

For Parent Orientation, I had the photos up on the wall, ready to view. The parents LOVED the pictures. The next day, when the students came in, I had to tear them away from the wall. They wanted to look at themselves AND each other. It has been a great confidence booster for everyone. Our next step will be to add pictures in the hallway of things that we do during the year to keep this going all year long.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Clepper

  • Listen Up! We Love Books!

    Funded Nov 2, 2015

The students live our new listening station! The wireless headphones make it so so easy. You can even see them walking around the room listening to books. My favorite part about the whole thing is that I don't have to spend 10 minutes everyday untangling cords.

The students truly love to listen to stories that are on CD. It gives them a good example of reading to listen to with correct fluency and expression. With your generous gifts, it has made our classroom a little bit better! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Clepper

I have 22 students in my classroom. They LOVE books and they are practicing everyday to become better readers themselves. Our school is a wonderful place that fosters the love of reading as well. One way to foster the love of reading is by listening to good literature on CD. This way, students can hear what good, fluent reading sounds like.
