Picture Perfect Copies...Color Printer Needed
Funded Mar 23, 2010At the beginning of the year my students began journaling their life experiences and creating imaginative tales. They spent countless hours getting their thoughts and ideas onto paper. through the writing process they have selected pieces to publish and share with others. As part of this process they have created colorful illustrations and taken countless photos to pair with their writing. Then I had to give them the bad news that everything would be printed in black and white. I immediately saw the excitement leave the room and as one student stated, "It just won't be the same."
With the generosity of donors like you I've been able to once again bring life back into the classroom and excitement back into writing. Students can not wait to now publish in color and create books and posters to share with others. There's even now talk about creating a class newsletter for families. With of course color photos to show all the great things we are doing in class.
Thank you again for you support and donations.”

Funded Jan 22, 2010I hope this letter can encourage you in your giving and allow you to see how powerful donations like yours are to public schools. The books on CD have arrived and are being used daily in my classroom. We received books that are at a variety of levels (from Hop on Pop all the way to The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series). They include both picture books and chapter books as well as some short stories and poetry. The students practically beg me to use them!
With the budget crisis in California, schools are receiving less and less money for "extras" like books on CD. At my school, most families are economically challenged and cannot contribute their time or money to their child's learning. It is inspiring to have people who do not know my students that are willing to give to them to increase their literacy. Thanks so much for your compassion. I know we can work towards bridging the gap for these readers who are behind their peers.
Thanks again. I hope you will continue to consider sponsoring projects on the Donors Choose website. Teachers, students, and families are grateful. ”

Funded Sep 9, 2009I cannot thank you all enough for contributing to the purchase of portable CD players and headphones. My fourth and fifth grade struggling readers use them daily. They love to sit down on a bean bag and listen to a chapter book that they otherwise could not read on their own. They follow along with the words on the page, furthering their vocabularies. The kids come in very excited to use them.
In light of California's educational budget crisis, I am well aware that these resources would not have been purchased if it wasn't for your generosity. By supporting projects like mine on Donorschoose.org, teachers in public schools get their dreams for their students funded. How great that feels!
Thank you once again. I hope you will continue to support public education whether it be through donations, volunteering time, or advocating for children in your lives. We really appreciate your support as teachers!”

Ms. Collins
Word Wizards
Funded Apr 19, 2009Please accept this small token of my appreciation for your generous donation. Thanks to you my 36 students now have access to dictionaries and are well on their way to becoming Word Wizards. It has been amazing to see their excitement every time they find a new word. I find myself challenging the kids daily to find a new word of the day. They have embraced the challenges and now use these new words in their writing and daily oral language. Even better because of your contributions to our class we now have spelling and vocabulary building activities to use through out the year. I am anxious to begin teaching the kids about root words, prefixes, and suffixes. It has been so much fun already and I can't wait to see where these Word Wizards soar to.
Thank you again for your support, it is greatly appreciated.”

Fit For The Future
Funded Mar 23, 2009I'd like to thank you for your generous donation and support. The fitness equipment that you provided to our students is greatly appreciated. Students now have the ability to not only learn about being a more active individual, but the opportunity to be more active. They were so thrilled to open the boxes containing bouncy balls, basketballs, jump ropes, and so much more. No longer will there be a need to share just the one ball that the school provides us. Students now all have access the this equipment.
It's been exciting to watch our students engaged in playing once more together the games I once loved as a child, like four-square. They now look forward to recess time and the chance to play. Additionally we now have enough equipment to use in our after school Fitness Club for students at risk for being over weight. This club that once served 6-10 students is now the most popular club and has over 30 active participants.
Without the generosity of organizations and individuals like you many of our young students wouldn't have the opportunities to get up, get out, and go play. ”
