Penguin Fun!
Funded Nov 29, 2022Did you know that penguins live in many locations and habitats? This is just one of the many fun penguin facts the third graders in my room learned this winter when we studied them.
With your help and generous support students had the much needed books and tools needed to make this learning unit a success. After we completed our research and published our reports we had a penguin themed celebration. I was able to gift students with a penguin bag filled with materials for them to continue their learning over the holiday break.
Thank you for bringing so much joy to our hearts and fun into our class.”

Funded Oct 15, 2022Third graders love science and they love hands on learning even more. With your support we can expand our scientific knowledge of magnetism and space by using the science kits you generously donated to our class.
Students have been anxiously waiting for me to open the boxes and share our newest materials. Next month we will start our new science units and I can't wait to share their expressions and joy when they see what we have. I've got so many exciting experiments prepared now that we have all the materials we need.
Thank you.”

Funded Oct 9, 2022Thank you for your generous support and donations. Students in my class welcomed the boxes with cheers and smiles. They excitedly opened the packages and immediately began asking when we could use them.
Since the arrival of the new supplies students have been using them daily. From the privacy boards that support them in having some quiet reasoning time and a space to independently work to the brightly colored paper that they use to publish their writing on. They have loved the paint brushes that allowed them to explore the color wheel as well and tinting and shading.
Thank you again.”

Multiply !
Funded Sep 20, 2022What's a million times 1? It's me and my third grade students sending a million thank you high fives to you! The day the boxes arrived with our new materials the students gathered on the rug anxiously anticipating what was inside. When they saw the multiplication pop-its they screamed with joy. With each additional item revealed their excitement grew. It was so joyous to see all of them so excited to start their multiplication journey.
Over the next few weeks we sang songs, worked with math tools, learned to skip count, and more. Students began trying on these new skills and quickly started mastering their basic facts. Each third grader got their own set of flash cards to study at home and parents quickly shared their appreciation as well.
Thank you.”

Funded Sep 9, 2022It's with great joy that I write this thank you letter to you. With your generous support we just completed our first of many research reports, animal adaptations!
Students learned the important skill of reading informational text. Lessons taught included determining the main idea of a text by recounting the key details and using text features to locate relevant information. Additionally, we learned to compare and contrast the most important key details in two texts on the same topic.
These third graders were actively engaged in reading their new animal adaptation books independently and in small groups. They excitedly shared cool colorful illustrations they found as well as amazing new facts. It was exciting to see even some of our most reluctant readers running to select a new book from our classroom display.
We celebrated with a publishing party right before heading to winter break where students shared their reports and what they learned. Thank you again.”

Welcome Back!
Funded Jun 28, 2022Thank you for your generous donations to our classroom. Students were welcomed back to school with new pencil boxes stuffed with amazing and cheerful school supplies. You've helped me bring a little joy to the classroom this year by donating to this project. Watching their eyes light up as the opened these "gifts" and saw highlighters, donut themed pencils, and so much more was like watching a child on Christmas morning walking downstairs to see a tree filled with presents. Because of you these amazing third graders don't have to worry about having the supplies they need to be successful this year. Thank you!”

Funded May 4, 2022As you already know 3rd grade is a big year for writers! Writing becomes a key component of the curriculum. Students are writing more independently and for significant blocks of time. They are honing their paragraphing skills and writing multi-paragraph compositions. All while continuing to expand their knowledge of grammar, spelling, and mechanics. So you can imagine how helpful it is to have the supplies needed to support them in developing their writing skills. Thank you for your support of our writers.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021As you know readers in my class this year were struggling to make the adjustment back to in-person learning. They were navigating talking to peers again and having collaborative conversations all while trying to make gains in their reading. With your support I was able to purchase book sets and introduce partner reading into our classroom. According to experts, this allows students to take turns reading and provide each other with feedback as a way to monitor comprehension. It provides a model of fluent reading and helps students learn decoding skills by offering positive feedback. Not to mention giving students "something" to talk about. It's been amazing to see these young readers in action. They are actively engages with one another and loving partner reading.”

Funded Oct 4, 2021Thank you for supporting our classroom with your generous donations. Student groups are actively using the reading materials you helped purchase to improve their reading skills. They meet twice a week to learn new skills and practice using previously taught ones as well.
The sets you helped to fund includes 8 teaching kits that each focus on specific comprehension skills—from identifying key details and story elements to retelling the story to demonstrate understanding. For each skill, you get a tabbed storage pocket with a step-by-step lesson plan on front and a reproducible activity on back, plus 6 copies of a fiction or nonfiction reading passage and 12 vocabulary cards. They also include easy to follow lesson plans that allow passages to be read with up to 6 students...there's even vocabulary cards to reinforce key words and prompts to answer text-dependent questions. These activities all ensure comprehension and the kids love them!”

Back to School Survival Kits
Funded Aug 19, 2021Thank you, thank you, and thank you again for making the impossible possible. I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate your support and commitment to the little learners in my room. Your donations allowed me to create fun filled back to school survival kits for kids. Many had not been in school learning for over a year and were scared to return. Some didn't have the necessary tools needed to return. With your support students were welcomed back to class with everything they needed to be successful; even snacks to cure those morning hunger pains many had. Thank you again.”
