  • Flexible Seating Learning Lounge

    Funded May 21, 2019

First of all, thank you so much for your generous donation. Your donation has transformed our classroom and created an engaging, fun learning environment for my students. Their learning experience will be greatly benefited because of your support.

We LOVE all of our new tall table! When students walked in the first day of school, everyone was so excited to see the new table and stools! It is the most popular seat everyday. We spent the first few weeks of school rotating through so everyone got a chance to sit at the best table in the classroom.

We use the materials provided as alternatives to desks and traditional chairs. This allows the students to choose their own seat in a spot that they focus best and are engaged. There is also more room for collaboration and project based learning. The students love picking their own seats. I was impressed by their ability to truly choose a spot that would work best for them.

I cannot thank you enough for this huge change in our everyday learning! Thank you for your support! We could not have done this without you. These flexible seating choices have created a comfortable, fun, engaging, and more positive learning environment for all of my students. Again, thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pichler

We LOVE all of our new seating options! When the box arrived, they were so excited to open it up! Students' faces lit up with excitement as they saw yoga balls and butterfly stools. They started planning the perfect spot in our classroom for the new seating options.

  • Rockin' Readers Recognize Diversity

    Funded Jul 17, 2018

First of all, thank you so much for your generous donation! During the first week of school, we opened up the box of books. I wish you could have seen how excited each student was to see so many brand new books. We took time to flip through the books and passed them around, so each student had a chance to look at every book. They wanted to start reading them all right away!

Since opening the books, we have been working our way through by reading a book a day. It was a great way to build our classroom community and to discuss many topics such as, friendship, diversity, honesty, responsibility, and so many more important topics. We just finished our first chapter book "Wishtree." They wanted to read it over and over again.

Once we finish reading the book together, it goes in our classroom library. Once a new book goes into the bin, students are so eager to get their hands on the book and read it on their own. These books have allowed the students to expand their understanding of the world around them and to be able to see themselves in the books.

Not only are these books helping students love reading, they are also teaching valuable lessons. These books are the perfect addition to our classroom library. I cannot wait to read them again and again to my future classes. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pichler

  • Seat Rearranging for More Engaging!

    Funded Jul 5, 2017

First of all, thank you so much for your generous donation. Your donation has transformed my classroom and created an engaging, fun learning environment for my students. Their learning experience will be greatly benefited because of your support.

We LOVE all of our new seating options! When students arrived one the first day of school, they walked into a classroom that looked very different than what they were used to. Students' faces lit up with excitement as they saw yoga balls, wobble stools, and bean bag chairs. Parents were also thrilled to see the various seating options!

We use the materials as alternatives to desks and traditional chairs. This allows the students to choose their own seat in a spot that they focus best and are engaged. There is also more room for collaboration and project based learning. The students love picking their own seats. I was impressed by their ability to truly choose a spot that would work best for them. Each student chose a space that would allow them to sit, stand, or wobble while still learning and focusing on their work.

I cannot thank you enough for this huge change in our everyday learning! This will be a memorable year for my students because of you. Thank you for your support! We could not have done this without you. These flexible seating choices have created a comfortable, fun, engaging, and more positive learning environment for all of my students. Again, thank you for your generosity.”

  • Students Need an Apple!

    Funded Mar 12, 2017

We can't thank you enough for your generosity in donating to our Students Need an Apple grant. We received the iPad and opened it as a class. It was so exciting! This iPad has brought technology to life in our classroom. With living in the 21st century, students are expected to use technology in their daily lives. Second grade is an important year to teach students how to use technology in a meaningful way. This iPad is used to enhance learning in the classroom and provides students with the opportunity to practice their new skills in a more applicable way. This iPad helps students transfer what we learn in the classroom to real life. The students are more engaged in learning when they get to share new information through technology.

There are two things about the iPad that is very exciting for the students. The first is an app called Padlet. On this app, the students are able to share about books they are currently reading in the classroom. The students love to share what they are reading with their classmates. This has brought many book discussions to our classroom, not just inside, but also on the playground. The students have bonded over reading the same book, series, or similar genres. Padlet helps students talk more about reading and share their love for reading with their peers. The students also love an app called SeeSaw. On SeeSaw, the students are able to teach our class about new math skills, share their writing, or explain the spelling pattern of the week. The best part of SeeSaw is their parents are able to see the videos and photos and make comments about their child's successes throughout the day. The students love seeing their parents' comments. This also helps create a great relationship between home and school.

This iPad has benefited and supported each student in a different way based on their academic needs. Your donation has made quite an impact on our daily routines. The students love using the iPad, and we truly appreciate your generosity! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pichler

  • Need to Read!

    Funded Oct 27, 2015

We can't thank you enough for your generosity in donating to our Need to Read grant. We received the recorders and opened it as a class. It was so exciting! Second grade is an important year to build reading fluency. The recorders have given the students the opportunity to read and listen back to how they sound. The student's reading has improved tremendously. Not only has it benefited the students in reading, but in writing as well. The students read their writing into the recorders to help them revise and edit. When they listen back to their story, they are able to tell what did not make sense and what areas they need to add more details. During reading and writing time, the recorders are always in use!

The students get so excited to hear their voice and to record their work. A few weeks ago, we learned how important it is to change your voice for different characters and to match what is happening in the story. The students loved listening to all their different voices with the recorder. It really got the students excited and motivated to try new things! The recorders are very user friendly, so it is easy for all the students to use.

Your donation has made quite an impact on our daily routines. The students love using them, and we truly appreciate your generosity! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pichler
