  • Dance Costumes

    Funded Nov 26, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation to our school and to our dancers. The skirts and t-shirts were used in this year's Nutcracker performance as part of the 3rd grade costumes.

Some of the t-shirts were also used by 5th graders in their "Candy Cane" dance where students were asked to wear red and white. In some cases students forgot or didn't have either color, so having extra white shirts for them was extremely helpful.

Students are always excited to try-on costumes and to see the style and colors for each of the dances. Having costumes, accessories and class colors raises the excitement and cohesiveness of the dances.

The t-shirts and skirts will become part of our permanent collection specifically for the Nutcracker.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Boitel

  • BodySox: Whole Body Dancing!Kindergarten Through 5th Grade Creative Movement!

    Funded Dec 5, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations of Body Sox to our dance classes. Having a Body Sox in various sizes for all students and the instructor has made our class very productive. Kids of all sizes are able to participate in the different dances and be engaged in the dance curriculum. Students have been using the Body Sox to create a water dance that they will be performing in April as part of our AFRICAN DANCE CELEBRATION.

Each students' dance represents a different body of water on the African continent. This has been a fun way yo learn bodies of water by being a body of water themselves through the use of the Body Sox.

Again, many thanks for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Boitel

Students will use the BodySox to create and perform a dance by imitating body stretched, curled, angular, twisted shapes, and exploring spatial and energy elements of dance through personal and shared space while dancing with body socks! Dance can be enhanced with the use of BodySox by incorporating the sensory and spatial elements of dance while students make organic and inorganic shapes. Students dance individually and in groups to model. The BodySox will provide endless hours of exploring spatial elements and making connections between geometry and dance. Students will then perform their dances using the BodySox for the entire school Community.
