Summer Stories for Soon-to-be Kindergarteners!
Funded Jun 2, 2023I simply cannot thank you enough for helping to ease my students' transition from pre-k to kindergarten. With your generosity we were able to fill a tote bag for each child with beautiful new books, each one offering a reassuring message for our anxious little scholars. First, I read the books out loud to the class during the last days of school and then sent them home with the children so they could savor them with their families all summer long.
I especially loved reading them The Invisible String, which is a powerful book for helping kids cope with separation anxiety and loss. In it, a mom explains to her kids how people are connected by invisible strings of love, even when we aren't together. This was the perfect idea to introduce during the last days of school, as students were worried about saying goodbye to their friends and teachers.
Another super relevant read was Jabari Jumps, which tells the story of a little boy who is scared to jump off the high dive, but eventually overcomes his fear and feels proud. This was a timely metaphor for the big jump from the safety of pre-k to kindergarten!
Thank you for helping me to bring these beautiful stories to my students and their families.”

I am thrilled to be working with such energetic young people and eager to help them channel that energy in positive ways. These journals are just what the girls need to make it through these trying adolescent years. Thank you!!
