Most of my students have a need for motivation and behavioral incentives. Food is a great tool for those that have a disability with communication. Life skills can be obtained with most of these items and creating a real world environment will help. Maslow has food and shelter at the lowest level in motivating a person, however, environmental needs can be met with food and the knowledge on how to prepare it. I give my students a consistent way to depend on the classroom snacks can provide this. Microwave food can help with quick meals.
