  • Help Light the Way to Learning for Theatre Students

    Funded Nov 21, 2024

Thank you for your support of our program. We're finishing "The Play that Goes Wrong" and will be focusing on our 80s choir show and the lighting for it. Students are excited to be able to program movable lights for the first time. I have previewed the unit with a couple of students, and they are very interested in how the lights will work and the programming behind it.

This would not be possible without your help. Thank you again for partnering with these theatre kids in the education process.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins

  • Spotlight On Big Dreams

    Funded Nov 9, 2024

    =====

Thank you so much for these lighting tools! We have just finished a production of "The Play that Goes Wrong," and students are excited for what comes next! What comes next is an 80's concert with their original lighting designs for different songs. I'm excited to use these lights, cables, and the larger light in ways that we have been previously unable to do.

Students are excited to learn about the different movements and programming these lights will be able to perform. I'm excited to dig in and teach them! Thank you again for your help in this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

I am thrilled that you were willing to help make my students heard! Microphones have got to be one of the most important pieces of the puzzle in theatre, and this new one will help out tremendously! We still have a long way to go before we are fully equipped with what we need for larger cast productions, but every little piece is just one step closer to providing big production tech to a rural area school.

I promise you that these students are worth your investment, and I am thankful that you decided to work with us in this way!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins

  • Snacking Our Way to Financial Success

    Funded Sep 7, 2023

Thank you for your contribution to our program. Students were overwhelmed with the amount of items available to receive in exchange for rehearsals. We discussed several careers associate with the theatre and talked about wants vs. needs. As high school students, they quickly learned the rules for the snacks. We talked about how everyone wants something, but there are times we truly need a snack.

While it many not seem like a lot, these snacks helped my students to focus and learn about these economic principals and how they tied into real live.”

  • Hold It There! This Choir Needs Better Folders!

    Funded Aug 22, 2023

My students are loving their new materials! They are functionally sound, and look very professional. It has helped tremendously in elevating the feel of our program. Students recently sang in our all-region auditions, and we had 3 students from our school qualify for the clinic concert. Having those folders to keep music secure and steady helped them to feel confident in their auditions.

Again, thank you for helping to develop this young group as we grow, establish traditions, and build a quality musical program for these young singers.”

  • Help "Makeup" the Grade for Theatre Students!

    Funded Nov 23, 2022

Your thoughtful contributions have helped to give us a great foundation for our theatre program to grow on. Students used the makeup to create numerous characters for our winter play, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Students were taught how to paint faces of characters so that they were fully involved in the theatre process. For our most recent show, an eighth grade student designed and used the materials we.purchased to apply special effects makeup to create bruises and facial rashes. Your help has sparked much interest in these students!! We are so thankful!”

  • Noteworthy Reading for My Musical Learners

    Funded Jan 24, 2022

My students at Rivercrest enjoyed the time working with and reading the songtales books. As many of you know, I no longer work at Rivercrest. I know those materials will continue to make a difference in the lives of those students.

Then new music instructor has the ability to use so many resources thanks to your generosity. Moving into a district that has resources is a huge benefit.

Reading continues to be a focus at Rivercrest, and I know those materials in the hands of students will be a legacy of music and learning that will far outlast my time there.

Thank you again for your contributions!”

  • Community "Keys" Please!

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

My students are grateful for the chance to play on the keyboards. I was able to teach a unit in keyboarding, and the entire class had access to a keyboard with a partner. That was a tremendous shift from previous years. Students enjoyed learning about the keys and the the names of the notes. They successfully played "hot cross buns" as an entire class, and many were able to complete three songs in our song book.

During the last day of the unit, I taught about the different settings and sounds available on a keyboard. It was a tremendous joy to see the kids experimenting with the pre-set rhythms, tracks, and sounds! The really had a great learning time playing on the instruments and "composing" songs on them.

It's also been great to see who is naturally drawn to the keyboards. There are students who have really thrived in this area over others. I am always surprised at which students responded to the instrument. Thank you again for giving these students a chance to learn and experience something great!”

  • Needing "Keys" to Learn and Create

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

My students are enjoying the freedom to create and explore through their new keyboards. During their recess, they have the chance to come in and reserve a keyboard. With the headphones on, they have been creating songs, exploring the different sounds on the keyboards, and choosing new rhythms to go along with what they create. I even have a pair of students who have been working on an original song with lyrics.

This would not have been possible without your help! Your contribution to this program has been meaningful and important! You are making a difference in their lives and in the culture of this classroom.

Thank you for your help in helping these students learn, grow, and find expression.”

  • Music Marketplace Brings More Golden Behavior

    Funded Aug 31, 2021

My students have loved the opportunity you gave them! In 6th grade they have learned how to play 4 chords and enough keyboard basics to get them started on their own journey. I have several students who wanted keyboards for Christmas because they enjoyed playing.

Other grades have been able to come in during their recess and use the keyboards and headphones to create their own songs.

On Thursdays, I have at least four students who stay their entire recess time and play on the keyboards.

The plan from here is to build time into the year for each grade to work with the keyboards as most kids are eager to play them. It's exciting to see the joy that an instrument can bring to a student. Thank you again for equipping me as a teacher.”

Welcome to my world! I have the privilege of teaching music to a blend of beauties from the Arkansas Delta. Our school has a state-winning basketball team, but a struggling vocal music program. I'm on the side of turning that around. This is year 2 for choir and theatre at this school after a covid shut-down, and I'm trying to set a firm foundation.
