These games are for my medical detectives class and possibly for an already running after school program where we play intramural sports and games. I have a middle school medical detectives class, and one the topic we explore is an outbreak that is slowly occurring. The final project requires becoming an epidemiologist and learning how to track down the source to prevent its spread. I would like to add another element where they play this game so they can experience all the different roles people play including career opportunities ranging from EMT to epidemiologist. Students will learn how these experts work together to prevent something as serious as a pandemic. This is especially relevant considering the coronavirus outbreak that is currently going on. Pandemic is a unique game in the sense that it is cooperative. Plague Inc shows the different methods of disease spreading as students will have the unique opportunity to be the disease! I also like these board games because students don't play them very often. These games provide opportunities for social skills that many students often lack.
