  • Learning With Technology

    Thank you so much for your recent support of our Learning with Technology project. I have many students who are unable to provide the necessary headphones for use with in class computers and the purchase of headphones for my classroom has removed this burden. The new Chromebooks are amazing and allow my students the opportunity for at their fingertip learning and enrichment opportunities. We have been able to complete research projects, and have had many educational opportunities such as math races, phonics building skills, etc. all without having to leave the classroom! Students who do not have technology at home no longer have to worry about meeting certain educational demands anymore!”

  • Beanbags and Books!

    My students were so excited when our bean bag chairs and floor pillows showed up! They couldn't wait to use them for our reading block the next day. When the next day rolled around I had students show up early in hopes that they would have first pick of the new seating. I now use the chairs as an incentive to read their library books at home during their 20 minutes of required reading time. If a student shows up and has not read their book, they must read it before gaining access to the chairs. This has really increased home reading efforts by my students. My hope is to turn my class into a flexible seating class in the upcoming school year. The bean bag chairs and floor pillows are a great start to seeing that dream become a reality!”

I have a large class and a small space. Often, when reading a book or trying to show a visual to the class, I will inevitably have students who aren't able to see. A document camera will allow me the opportunity to display items on the Smartboard for the entire class. I teach a unit on The Little Man in the Map, but unfortunately, without a document camera, my students aren't able to get the full impact of the lesson because they are unable to see the small pictures with a ton of detail. Creating patterns out of pattern blocks, showing students how to count change, reading books with pictures, and so much more will all be much more beneficial to my students with the use of a document camera.
