To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow!

Thank you for funding our indoor aero garden! It is the perfect project for my students who are now experiencing the cold weather! Through this project, my students are able to continue their learning without Mother Nature! The indoor aero garden is aligned to our NYS Science standard where students learn about the parts of a plant and the ways in which they grow. My students transform into gardeners and have been developing a love for gardening! Can you imagine, fourth graders with a green thumb? My students are planting and realizing healthy eating habits along the way.

This classroom project was brought to life by Target and 4 other donors.

Our project is "kid-inspired" because our students decided we need an indoor garden to complete our unit on gardening, seeds, and plants. We have tried growing our very own bean, lettuce, and garlic plants, but unfortunately due to the unpredictable New York weather, it has been too cold for the seeds to germinate. With this AeroGarden, we would be able to successfully grow our own plants indoors, even if the weather is cold! Having our own garden will also help our students learn about how important it is to fuel your body with healthy foods. Our students will be beyond thrilled to grow their own garden, right in our classroom! Since it is not always guaranteed that seeds will grow during the cold New York seasons, it would be extremely helpful to have this AeroGarden to increase our chances of having a classroom garden. We can't wait to see their excitement as they watch our garden change from just a pod of soil, to a large, green, flourishing, vegetable plant. Then finally, they will be able to have a nutritious snack they have grown throughout the year!
