This special class is designed for students who are approximately 2 or more years above their grade level peers and embrace a rigorous, fast-paced learning environment. The students have opportunities to work cooperatively and independently throughout the curriculum. My students are creative and thoughtful, and they get energized through hands-on discovery learning. They eagerly enter the classroom each morning, and immediately check our agenda to see what we'll focus on today! One characteristic of Gifted students is that their minds are in constant motion. As a result, their bodies, unconsciously, are also in motion, to keep rhythm with their thoughts. I witness swinging feet, fidgeting and standing as students complete assignments. I have dedicated students who thrive on learning; however, they need tools to help them make the mind-body connection. Their minds are gifts and their bodies want to keep up.
