I am a Special Ed. Teacher who teaches a Severe/Profound Classroom. I teach grades 1-3 and is the best job in the world. I teach students who have Down Syndrome, Autism, and other disabilities that affect my students. Some of my students are non-verbal, a few are deaf, and some can communicate freely. They learn like most students, but on a lower level academically. I teach them the basics of learning. Letter recognition, sounds, and the basics of beginning reading. With math, they are learning numbers, counting, and concepts with addition, subtraction, and other math agenda's. My students are on various levels throughout there learning. Some are learning the basics of sitting in a chair, becoming students. Others are working on IEP goals to help them become the better students they need to be.
