Cursive has become a lost art in schools and especially in our society with the increase in technology. In my class I want my students to learn as I did and be able to sign their names to important documents when they get older. When learning cursive I also teach them that they can read older documents such as the Declaration of Independence or even the examples I show of my Great Grandmother's school journals. I believe the addition of using calligraphy markers and then calligraphy pens will enhance their writing abilities. Also their time and effort will be rewarded with being able to write beautifully in script.
