  • Help Us Get Items for Room Transformations and Math!

    Funded Aug 18, 2022

I want to say thank you so much for your donation to the project "Help Us Get Items for Room Transformations and Math!" Students are bursting with excitement to walk into our room when we have a room transformation day. These days allow us to spend extra time having students work together in groups to solve challenges, and they keep students completely engaged in the learning. The glow room was a HUGE hit! I appreciate you helping us get some new items for us to complete these room transformations.

The hundreds board pop-its have been a great addition to our math lessons. The kids are on task and engaged when we use them. Thank you for your help in letting my students see that learning is meant to be fun and engaging!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mitchell

  • Help Us Replace Items for Our Room Transformations!

    Funded May 3, 2022

I want to say thank you so much for your donation to the project "Help Us Replace Items for Our Room Transformations!" Students are bursting with excitement to walk into our room when we have a room transformation day. These days allow us to spend extra time having students work together in groups to solve challenges, and they keep students completely engaged in the learning.

This past year some of the room transformations we completed were an animal room transformation, a glow room, a nonfiction text feature surgery, and an adjective fashion show. I appreciate you helping us replace some of the items I will need in order to complete these room transformations again with next year's class. Thank you for your help in letting my students see that learning is meant to be fun and engaging!”

  • A Chick Hatched Today!

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for helping with the project "A Chick Hatched Today!" I plan to use the new incubator that was donated with my class next spring as we study the life cycle of a chicken. When I went to get my incubator out a few weeks ago to start hatching eggs, it was not working. Luckily, I was able to wait a couple of weeks to borrow one from a colleague that was finishing up the process. The purchase of this new incubator will be used with my students next year. This is a project that students are so engaged in, and they think it is so special that they get to do this. They always say it is something they will always remember. Thank you so much for your generous donations & for supporting education!”

  • Engagement Is Key!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

I want to say thank you so much for your donation to the project "Engagement is Key" We have not been able to use the chef aprons or hats yet because we learn about fractions at the end of the year so we will use those then when we do our Fraction Pizzeria.

Students have been so excited to use the math pop it games. They are used almost daily to practice addition and subtraction fact fluency. The pop its really keep them engaged!

The desk pets have also been a huge hit. Students have been setting and meeting reading goals in order to earn their desk pets. Students are reading new authors and genres, more chapter books, and choosing more nonfiction books to read because of the program that we set up to earn the desk pets. The kids are so proud when they meet their goals and earn their pets. There is nothing better than hearing how excited kids are to learn and how they love to come to school. This project has helped with this. Thank you for your help in letting my students see that learning is meant to be fun and engaging!”

  • Room Transformation: Safari Adventures

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

I want to say thank you so much for your donation to the project "Room Transformation: Safari Adventures!" Students were bursting with excitement to walk into our room when we had our zoo/safari day. The kids got to wear safari hats or animal headbands that were funded with this project. We had animal backdrops, vines, and large animals hanging up throughout the room. One student's desk was even made to look like she was sitting in a jeep on a safari!

During math, the kids went and looked for animal cards around the room as they decided if the numbers or the objects shown on each card was even or odd (the topic in math we were working on at the time). Students then worked with a small group to solve challenges for a breakout room during reading and science. Students had to use what they had learned about animals over the last 3 weeks to complete a set of challenges in 45 minutes in order to break into the box that contained prizes for the students. The students were completely engaged in their learning, and it is always good when we can allow students time to learn how to best work with others. The kids kept talking about how they were looking forward to the next time they get to do a breakout room. It was a truly great day. There is nothing better than hearing how excited kids are to learn and how they love to come to school. Thank you for your help in letting my students see that learning is meant to be fun and engaging!”

  • Keep Our Flexible Seating Classroom Going!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for funding the project 'Keep Our Flexible Seating Classroom Going!'. We are using the 2 balance ball chairs and 2 active learning stools ("wobble stools") as seating options in our flexible seating classroom. Four students have one of these chairs at their "home spot". Every student has a "home spot" that students can go to first thing in the morning to get the day started. Throughout the day students can move around the room and sit at different places depending on the activity, how they are working- whether it's with a partner, group, or independently, or if they need to move to spot with a little bit of movement.

When students first saw the materials, they were thrilled!!! Students love that they can have a little bit of movement when they need it as they listen to instruction or are working independently. The students express often that they enjoy getting to choose where to sit based on what works for them as a learner. They feel comfortable in our classroom and they are taking ownership over their learning. I feel that my classroom is more student-centered than ever before, and I have been so impressed with how well students follow the expectations that are set for using all materials correctly.

Students were also excited to see the pop-its so that we can use them for math.

We used them just this week as we learned about arrays and repeated addition. Students used the pop-its to create arrays. It made the lesson more engaging for th kids. I have also been able to use the pop-its with a couple of students that were having a hard day and needed some short breaks to relax before they came back to join the lesson. Thank you so much for being a part of this project in our classroom. We really appreciate it!”

  • Help Us Replace Items for Our Room Transformations!

    Funded Jul 5, 2021

I want to say thank you so much for your donation to the project "Help Us Replace Items for Our Room Transformations!" Students are bursting with excitement to walk into our room when we have a room transformation day. These days allow us to spend extra time having students work together in groups to solve challenges, and they keep students completely engaged in the learning.

We have completed an animal room transformation so far this year. We are about to do a glow room when we learn how to add 2-digit numbers so we will get to use some of the materials from this project for that day. The nonfiction text feature surgery will be completed in January, and the fraction pizzeria and adjective fashion show will take place next semester as well. Thank you for your help in letting my students see that learning is meant to be fun and engaging!”

  • Headphones Needed

    Funded May 18, 2021

Thank you so much for funding the project 'Headphones Needed' for my classroom. I have students that are using the headphones every day as they use their Chromebooks to listen to books read aloud, watch videos related to our learning, and have questions read aloud to them on assessments. The headphones allow everyone to focus on their task without being a distraction to others.

The students that did not bring headphones to use in class really appreciate having some headphones to use while they are at school. The headphones have also come in handy when other students have had their headphones stop working and are waiting for their parents to purchase new ones.

Thank you so much for being a part of this project in our classroom. We really appreciate it!”

  • Student-Driven Portfolios: Seesaw Plus

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

Thank you so much for helping our classroom purchase Seesaw Plus. Seesaw Plus has allowed students to keep an online portfolio of their work from this school year. It has also given me the opportunity to give recorded academic feedback to help students progress in their learning. I am able to send work back to students when they need to fix something and they can then resubmit it to me. They have been recording themselves reading to me each week, and they have been using Seesaw to complete assignments in grammar, math, reading, science, and social studies. We also have been submitting photos and videos of our learning in class to Seesaw so that parents can see what their child is doing in class. Parents are extremely grateful for this since they are not able to visit our school and classroom this year due to COVID-19. I am grateful for your support, generosity, and kindness. Thank you so much!”

  • Keep Our Flexible Seating Classroom Going!

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

Thank you so much for funding the project 'Keep Our Flexible Seating Classroom Going!' for my classroom. We are using the student lap desks for students that like to sit around the room on one of our rugs while they work. We are using the office chair for students that choose to sit at the teacher desk as one of their rewards for good behavior each week. Finally, the iPad covers are used to help students be careful with our technology as they move and sit somewhere around the room. The bungee chairs were out of stock when I went to order the materials so I replaced those with a couple of other seating options for students.

When students first saw the materials, they were thrilled!!! They think the office chair is so comfy to sit in. I have many students this year that love to sit on the floor to work so the lap desks and comfy seats have allowed more students to have the opportunity to sit on the floor to complete their work.

Currently, we are planning to continue our flexible seating classroom because we are loving it! Thank you so much for being a part of this project in our classroom. We really appreciate it!”

My students are smart, curious, fun-loving, creative, hardworking, helpful, and kind. My 21 students represent countries all over the world, as well as learning levels from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. Some of my students need daily intervention while others need daily enrichment. My school consists of about 1000 students of diverse backgrounds and diverse learning abilities. We have a growing population of ELL students and students for which we implement interventions in reading and math, as well as students needing enrichment to acquire success for their educational needs. Our school does not receive Title I funding; therefore, the technology that we have in our classroom is limited and has to be funded through other means. Our school has an amazing administration and staff who are dedicated to meet each of these diverse needs. The environment of our school is warm, nurturing, and respectful.
