  • PS 207 Basketball 2015/2016

    I would like to thank everyone for making donations to fund my project. The basketballs and scoreboard were crucial to our teams success this year as we were able to actually practice like a real basketball team and when we hosted games we had our own scoreboard and did not have to go searching for one to borrow. This was only my second year coaching my schools team and this equipment had made such a difference than in previous years and i cant wait to see how this equipment will play a pivotal role in the years to come. Even though children do not show their gratitude as often as they used to but i know by seeing their actions that these donations meant the world to all of them. On behalf of all of us at Fillmore Academy, Thank You!”

    This classroom project was brought to life by DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation - Sports Matter and 20 other donors.
Last year i started the basketball program at our school with just a boys varsity team and now we have expanded to a boys varsity, girls and a boys JV team. Most of the children on these teams are from families that live in poverty and they cannot afford to place their kids in outside sports leagues so the league they play at in school is their only opportunity to participate in an organized team sports league.
