Getting Excited about Reading!
Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to my project. My students were so excited to get brand new books that they could read independently. The look of joy on their faces was priceless. They were able to look through the books and pick which ones interested them most.
These books have strong picture support which helps them figure out unknown and new words. These books also contain many of the sight words they have learned. This allows them to be more confident while reading. Many of the books have rhyming words which makes it easier for them to read unfamiliar words.
Reading in my classroom looks like a new adventure everyday for my students. They are happy and talking about their books with their partners. They are having book talks and exchanging books with each other. All of my students really enjoy these books. It has boosted their confidence immensely!
Thank you, thank you - it has made such a difference in their reading!”
With gratitude,

Funded May 20, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my Exciting Indoor Activity Hallway! The cricut, along with the accompanying supplies, have been used to create an exciting hallway loaded with decals such as: lilly pads, logs, paw prints, foot prints, flowers and zigzag lines. On each of these decals, are either numbers or letters for the students to follow. When I notice that the students have lost focus, we as a class go out into the hallway and follow the path. When we get back into the classroom the students are much more focused and ready to begin learning again.
The first time the students saw the decals on the floor, they were so excited and couldn't wait to start using it. I created a set of guideline for them to follow which also teaches them how to share and take turns.
The next steps will be continuing to add to the hallway. As the students learn more, I will be adding more decals that will allow the students to spell out words as well as solve addition and subtraction problems instead of just following paths. As they grow, so will the activity center until the hallway is completely filled on graduation day.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Weiss
