Funded Oct 26, 2015When the class saw the new easel and new chess pieces they couldn't believe it. They were so excited. They knew that the old easel was broken and they were quite happy to have a new one. It allows them to see our class chess board and our charts without them falling down. We are now able to write on the easel as the old one was all taped over and broken.
The chess sets allow the whole class to play at the same time. Something that everyone appreciates. We also have some extra pieces if something gets lost or broken. They have been really improving their chess game, they really think about their moves before they make them. The whole class is playing quite competitively even though we are only in first grade! We have learned the basics of the game and are now beginning to learn real chess strategy. Because of the new materials I have been able to teach chess to other students in our school during an after school program.
