  • Cases for Our Instruments

    Funded Aug 13, 2017

Thank you for your supporting my students. Now that we have a few new instrument cases, several of my students have gladly started to take their instruments home. They are thankful for having an easier time (lighter) and a safer way to take their individual instruments home. This time they are not afraid that the instrument might fall from the case and they know that any small bump on the way wont damage the instrument. I do have a Tenor Sax player who is a bit clumsy but with the new case I know that the Sax will return safely.

When the cases arrived my student were glad to see that they were plastic. My students are used to carrying around wooden cases that at times are heavier than the instrument itself.

This music program needs so much because over decades it has not been kept up. Little by little and with the help of generous people like you, I will organize and modernized the program in order to offer the best for my students. We need many more cases and instruments. We need music chairs, desks and sheet music. In the mean time I will work with what for people like you are able to help me with.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sanchez

  • Printer, Copier, Scanner for Our Music Room!

    Funded May 11, 2017

Thank you so much for the new printer and copier the music program now has. We just received the printer/copier this past week and it has already been put to use. Students in the advanced classes have started to start playing thanks to having the music ready for them. Any extra copies of music needed is printed within minutes and not days.

I usually have a lot of seniors towards the second half of the school year asking me for help with college application, letters of recommendation and materials needed to be printed out in order to graduate. With the new printer I will be able to help more students thanks to the speed that my students receive their printed out materials.

At this point I have about 230 students in total. The faster I get their materials to them the more I can teach them. I can now focus more time on the individual student and help each one be successful rather than waiting on copies to be made. You may have no idea how much this printer will help my program for years to come.”

  • Violin Cases for Orchestra

    Funded Jan 14, 2017

Last school year almost all of the instruments in the program started to go to the repair shop. All of the string instruments were sent and at times not knowing if they would be able to be repaired. About 9o percent of the string instruments luckily returned to be used this school year. The instruments were repaired but in order help keep them in good shape they would need new cases.

With receiving a couple of new cases we were able to replace 4 of the worst cases and make sure that the violins are kept in good working condition for years to come. This also helps the students when they take the instruments home to practice making sure that the instruments are kept safe during transportation and storage.

Thank you for helping me grow this music program.”

  • Storage for Our Tools to Make Music!

    Funded Aug 4, 2016

I am happy to see that all of my six classes are benefiting because of our new storage shelf. It makes organization much easier and frees up space in our music library room. Several of our tools we use to repair instruments and other items in the music room finally have a place to be stored. Music books are being stored as well. Our library is getting organized little by little and freeing up valuable space.

The package arrived after school so I had a couple of students help me assemble it. We were surprised as to how light the item was. It was pretty easy to assemble. The following day when my students stepped into the classroom they noticed that there was an addition to the classroom. The Shelf has finally gotten into the music library room after having the rug in our room removed. Many of the materials stored in the unit will be used for years to come. Many students who help out organize the middle library room were happy to know that we will finally have storage units to better find our supplies.

I am currently growing the program and one of my goals is to have the marching band go back into competition mode. I just opened up a new advanced orchestra class this year and an intermediate band class as well. In two years my goal is to finally open up a piano or guitar class. I want the students to have more options to take at this school and not be turned away from music because the class was not being offered.”

    Mr. Sanchez

  • Lincoln High Band and Guard

    Funded Feb 9, 2016

I am happy to see that all of my six classes are using our new Music stand rack. It makes organization much easier and frees up space in our room. Our sousaphone finally has a stand! The girls from the Color Guard have been able to take the flags and other materials home to practice and are happy that in the summer they will be able to do so as well. Since the flags came in different shipments, the guard team wondered how would they be able to all take the flags home only 4 bags being available. It took some time to figure the best way to carry the flag bag but in the end they all agreed that it was way better and safer than taking a flag home by itself. The team was happy to see that there was plenty of bags when the second shipment of bags came the following day.

The item that made the most impact inside the classroom would have to be the new stand rack. The package arrived after school so I had a couple of students help me assemble it. It was pretty easy to assemble. The following day when my students stepped into the classroom they noticed that there was more room in the classroom. Soon they noticed the new rack and the difference it made. Many of the materials will be used in the fall semester. Many returning students were happy to know that we will finally be having folders and music lyres to be used during football season for our public performances.

I will be opening up a new advanced orchestra class next year and an intermediate band class as well. In two years my goal is to finally open up a piano class. • Lincoln High School Percussion

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

This is my first year at this high school. When I arrived I found the two xylophones in storage on hand made wooden racks. These racks were not the best but they seemed useful at one point. One problem with the wooden racks is that they were bulky and had small wheels. My goal is to get the band back into competing mode one day. The class needed at least one xylophone back in the classroom with the hopes of using it during marching band competition as well.

Once the rack arrived several students helped me put it together. A few of the students who had previously used the wooden racks were thankful to see the new rack having large wheels. These students knew how hard it was to move the wooden racks with the xylophones to the football field. It took me a few weeks until I was able to modify the instrument so that it was able to fit into the rack. The rack was a bit large but it was the only one available for purchase which was fine.

Now that the instrument is on the rack, it is also back in the classroom and being used. Students now come before or after class and during lunch to practice with the instrument. A few days ago my beginning class had their final concert and they were able to wheel out the xylophone without any problem and use it for a public performance. Eventually the lower wooden part of the instrument will be painted as well as the wooden addition. I will also see how I can get another rack for the other xylophone still in storage and one for a glockenspiel as well. Overall this has been a great addition to my class.”

    Mr. Sanchez

My students are a mixture of 9th - 12th graders who are eager learners and members of the marching band, drumline, and color guard at a High School. The students are from a school with limited resources. My students rehearse almost everyday after school to supplement the time they may have during class.
